All too often pvp is plagued with those who quit the Crucible for various reasons, or players lag out. While most of the community who touches on this topic and vents their frustration advocate for a stiff punishment on those who leave a match prior to its completion, I suggest an alternative.
I suggest that we overlook punishment, instead let's look at methods to even the odds. In Diablo games, when a player enters or leaves the battlefield, the minions become stronger or weaker. A solution for destiny to fix the odds is to grant bonuses to a lopsided team until the match becomes fair.
Essentially, if a player leaves a match, then that team should gain an armor, regeneration, and/or weapons boost.( I don't know the numbers so I will abstain from any specifics.) For each player that leaves that team, the remaining members shall be compounded with boost.
Something of this nature may help even the odds when a team is short.
EDIT: There are two arguments that I have come across multiple times in this thread and I have attempted to respond to each one. The two are:
1: Players who quit should be punished, that would resolve the issue. My rebuttal: How does punishing players who quit the match help those who are still in the match with a player short? (So far no replies)
2: Boosting a team of 5 vs a team of 6 would make the handicapped team overpowered, and people would abuse it. My rebuttal: If your assertion is that number boost would make a team of 5 'over powered' could not that same philosophy also bring balance? Meaning, people argue with hypothetical numbers to state a 5 man team will become too powerful, yet wont imagine that a boosted five player team can also be balanced. Hypothetical numbers can be used to support my argument as much as refute it. As far as abuse of this system, the question is, how would it benefit?
