I see, you just want to be pedantic over the wording. Certain weapons were described as being "sunset" when they weren't taken away but were stuck at power level 1600, you could still get some of them from the monument. Regardless, we will be nudged towards the new armor and our old armor will become redundant, unless bungie have a rethink.

Umm no. I just have enough brain power to see that there's a difference between old gear arbitrarily becoming unusable in new content forcing us to grind new gear. and Giving us something powerful enough to encourage, but not force us to grind new armor. This is no different than giving an older gun a new perk pool. The old version isn't sunset, but you're encouraged to try the new one as it has stronger perk combos than the old one.
