I love Destiny. Despite my many many gripes with the game, it's still very fun at its core. I just love getting on a going on power trips, unleashing everything I have on an activity. However, the options for true solo play are extremely limited. The game was obviously designed around matchmaking or gathering a group of friends to play. But sometimes I just don't want to be tethered to anyone else. Sometimes I just want to drop into an activity on my own, take it at my own pace, and then do whatever I want on my own schedule. Unfortunately the game doesn't allow this. Destiny was definitely designed to be at it's best when enjoyed with others. However, I feel there is amazing potential for some solo play too. The legendary campaign option is an excellent example of what I'd love to see more of. The missions were so hard, yet didn't rely on matchgame or champions. I could rock whatever gear or build I wanted and still have a great, challenging time in it. I got to play on my own schedule and it even had hefty rewards for doing it. If you wanted to bring more friends along, it was optional and boosted the difficulty to accommodate for the extra firepower and revive capability. I'd love to see the game taking this approach more often. At the same time, I'd love to also have some easier options to solo too. You know, sometimes I just want to go on a power trip and Lost Sectors just don't cut it. One time the game glitched and I got to do a strike solo and it was one of the most fun experiences I ever had in Destiny. I want to replicate that so bad, but I've yet to find a reliable way to do it (on Xbox). Basically, even though Destiny was designed with multiplayer in mind, I feel there is so much untapped potential in its solo play game too.
