Your Community is in Flames. Change Needs to Happen.

Scrap next season. Just do it. The community has agreed that the seasonal structure has worn thin, and another season like this one will be catastrophic. Instead, put your noses to the grindstone and start fixing things. Revamp the seasonal content structure for next year while there's already work to do making it. Throw out the playlist activities and start from scratch to make the core activities of the game more engaging and rewarding. Revamp *all*, not some, of the exotics in the game that have fallen completely out of relevance. Do a bigger pass on the subclasses than the one planned, stasis included. Get old content fixed up and added back in so players have a backlog of things to do (or redo). The fires are burning, and this silence is only making them hotter. Your customers are not happy with what they've paid for. Your playerbase is leaving in droves. Your content creators are actively calling you out, left and right. So scrap the season that's inevitably going to just piss more players off, put the story in a -blam!- lorebook or something. Fix your game. If you're just trying to hunker down this season, call this year a wash, wait for the Lightfall hype train to cover up all these mistakes, it won't work. Players are canceling preorders, and the momentary hype spike and subsequent cratering of interest and player counts Lightfall will bring, will only be worse than this year. 1 mediocre season and two terrible ones have tired the community out, and playercounts are showing clear as day, we've had enough. Get to work, make your game better. Sincerely, A paying customer

  • I have just three problems with D2. 1. The seasons, while an excellent way to deliver new content in a consistent way, go on for too long. The last third of each season is mostly just grind. I understand the "padding," it gives opportunities for latecomers to finish the season or time for a person to grind all three classes through the content. Nonetheless, there are mechanisms in place for latecomers and returning players to play activities they missed. 2. The four holiday events are stale and space grandma just repeats the same lines over and over and over again. Eva is by far the most annoying NPC in the game because she never evolves, while the other NPCs have evolved. 3. A failed promise for a capital improvement in a more robust server farm. This is my biggest concern. Significant game stability issues exist and have existed for years, this most recent near two day breaking of matchmaking is only the tip of the iceberg if robust improvements are not invested and delivered to the game infrastructure. I strongly disagree with the author of this thread in several areas. Creative improvements and stronger delivery of story have improved this game immensely. Having a shooter-based game with strong storylines puts D2 lightyears ahead of Halo, which was a pure shooter with a generic PC. It goes without saying that the author of this thread does not speak for me. The community is not abandoning this game in anywhere near the numbers the author suggests. But there are frustrations associated with core activities that need to be addressed. Gambit is stale. Significant improvements are in the works for PvP and I look forward to them. Vanguard activities have seen multiple updates and improvements, good job. The quality of life improvements are long overdue, but slated to appear with Lightfall. Excellent. I am willing to wait, knowing that all of these things are scheduled and in the pipeline. I reiterate that all of these good things will be for nought if stability and game infrastructure issues are not addressed.
