Can we get Content and not Eververse Items please

as per Paul Tassi of Forbes Magazine "Destiny 2 is coming off accusations that the Eververse store is starting to take over the game. When Curse of Osiris arrived, it had just as many new items as the expansion itself hidden away in its Bright Engram loot boxes. Now, just two weeks later, The Dawning has dumped another 59 items into Eververse in a new, separate engram. Here’s the breakdown: 5 pieces of armor (3x classes) 4 emotes (1 exotic) 10 Ghost Shells (1 exotic) 10 ships (2 exotic) 11 sparrows (2 exotic) 4 shaders 5 transmat effects" How about instead of filling the Eververse with things we can get randomly by playing the game that we keep telling you needs to be made better, you actually provide in game content to earn some of this stuff.. have it as rewards and trophies for defeating engaging activities in the game.. at this point, i'm sure sprinkling it througout the game we already have would be a fresh idea but, what about adding in new heroic adventures, new side missions and quests, have us do things to earn rewards to show our accomplishments like we did in D1 and stop simply giving out gift baskets of random stuff simply for doing what ever it is those of us left do in Destiny week in and week out. Edit 1. I go to sleep and get to work to check out the page and wow. Seems i'm not the only one feeling this way. I appreciate the support and I also appreciate the fact that so many of you are still caring enough about the game to continue to provide feedback... now about that "devils horn/metal" emote....

  • What bothers me the most is debasing the value of ships, shaders, sparrows etc. In D1 I was proud of my kings fall ship or glowhoo Crotas end shader. Long after I was max light I played WotM raid to try and get the ship. Now eververse products have no perceived value because you can just buy packages until RNG blesses you. So ships, ghosts, shaders, sparrows have no 'pride' factor. So the replayability of D2 goes out the window as compared to D1.

    • Before I get into this, let me say I’d rather Bungie allow for eververse items to be legit attained in game on a more simple basis like complete ___________ to unlock this emote or complete the prestige raid 5 times to unlock these ships and ghost for purchase via tokens. Let the items be sold for those who don’t wish to complete the activity for a cosmetic item, but also take RNG out and just allow them to buy exactly what they want. That said, the changes they made in the Dawning are trending the right way. You can get a gift schematic that gives you a dawning item without a purchase daily. 3x if you have all three characters. You can also get rid of those items for dust to purchase items, all of the dawning items will be sold through Tess over the next three weeks. I remember Festival of the Cost. That was done horribly. This Dawning is way better. The fact is, microtransactions will never go away, but I do want to see an easier way to earn those items in game through a record book or something. If you have a legit way to earn in game or buy them I wouldn’t care if someone used their money to buy. I think that plus the fact the end game lacking incentives makes this topic so bad. If we had better incentives or a clear cut way to earn eververse items in game then this would be a non issue.

      • AAA games are doubling if not tripling profit through microtransactions. That’s low encentive for this new standard to go away. The conversation we should be having is “stop supporting microtransactions with your wallet. You have a gambling problem.” Not “Bungie stop it (even though you can’t because Activision is pushing hard for Microtransactions).” If everyone actually contacted government officials for regulation/banning instead of complaining on a forum where nothing can be done, maybe we could get somewhere.

        • Anyone who defends eververse either doesnt know what bungie themselves said what it was supposed to be for and how it was used. Bungie themselves back in the day said it was supposed to be used for free updates after dlc that wouldnt have been developed otherwise. Fast forward to d2 and eververse isnt being used to make free updates to keep the game alive, its being used to take advantage of you. And to anyone who says that eververse payed for the dawning then i ask this to you: When do you think the dawning was developed? Keep in mind most post launch content is developed along side the base game.

            • Compare the Dawning in Destiny 1 vs. the Dawning in Destiny 2. Destiny 1 we got three new exotics (including bringing back Icebreaker), weapon ornaments, chances are legendary gear, the books that tracked your progress and gave you rewards for completing stuff, new armor sets you could earn without being locked behind Eververse, the Sparrow Racing League, etc. Destiny 2 we got snowballs, Mayem, and $80-$600 worth of Eververse items. The difference is just staggering.

Piece of shit company . Took a game we love, recycled it and made us preorder and then lure us to pay for new items and more recycled stuff in dlc. While the mechanics sucks and everything is bugged and super powers suck. So bullshit. It’s been three months and nothing changed has really except for new and more items in eververse?? How -blam!-ed is that??!!!

              • Here's my beef. I don't even mind that it's a microtransactions festival. I also play Overwatch. Their seasonal event is absolutely, 100%, unquestionably for lootboxes and cosmetics. They own that. Players know that. There's always some debate about lootboxes and MTX, but it's accepted and at least it's only cosmetic, not like EA's debacle. But my issue with The Dawning is that, while I really don't mind events like that in theory, the way it's set up is horrible. In Overwatch, you get the chance at at least 3 extra lootboxes per week through arcade mode wins, plus each level you get earns you an event box. It's a grindfest, and yeah, you know they want you to spend, but if you play and get a box or two a day, you're probably going to get most of what you want, especially since they fixed the duplicate item problem. The fact that Destiny 2 has it set up so that you're only guaranteed one full engram A WEEK, and the daily present quests only get you a single item, makes the grind just not worth it and just adds another layer of BS to the paywall. Add that to the weird shader stacking, and you have a festival so shamelessly greedy that this uproar feels justified.

                • People are so wrapped up in looking at wether a MTX system is pay to win, pay to progress, or just pay to look cool. And the result is they are blinded by what the MTX system as a whole is doing to the gaming industry. Studios are cutting developing cost, releasing games that are far sub par to what their potential actually is, then just throwing in micro transactions to maximize profits. Saying that they are needed to keep game companies from charging more from games is complete bull shit. There was actually data that showed that recently, EAs developement costs were the lowest they've ever been in , I believe it was, 5 years, yet there profits were at a record high. Everyone wonders why we keep getting crappy game releases. It's because developers know they don't need to put much effort into making a quality game while there's people out there who will dump money into whatever micro transactions they put in said game.

                      • Microtransactions need to go. I bought a few things in Destiny 1 basically as a bonus to bungie for creating a game that I got so many hours of enjoyment out of. I REGRET every single penny of it and will never buy another one ever again. This has gone from a minor little kiosk that was completely avoidable, to the game outright designed around continually sending you back there to try and sucker you in. This has passed the point where it is just cosmetic items for cash, IT IS affecting how the game is played and designed. If you buy micro transactions thinking it isn't hurting anything, it's "my money, what's the big deal?" You are so very wrong and contributing to progressively making this worse. This is shady business practice that is slowly destroying video games and it needs to be banned. You could try and get customers money be making a good product instead

Wow that's weak. Four developers and little to nothing to show for it. Bungie, Vicarious Visions, High Moon and Blizzard. Granted Blizzard and co, are on PC but still the point stands.

                          • bit of a text wall: I believe the real crying is about the loot itself really to its core having nothing to add to the game experience being that it's purely cosmetic other than ghosts and sparrows having the perks that they do. Bungie has taken this approach, flawed the 3oC system due to poor coding and actually put more effort into the dawning "a free event" than CoO which is paid content. Masterworks is a step in the right direction that they need to build on. Maybe perks that help like explosive round, glass half full, head seeker. They give us raid weapons and armor that are just cosmetic and do nothing in the raid yet in d1 the armor and weapons from raids did stuff for said raids. They brought back exotics from d1 instead of being a creator and developer "which is their job btw" and bringing new, unique exotics for their fans. D1 was a start but you don't just throw it away and start from scratch with d2. You build from it. We lost everything from our fight with cabal. Our tower was destroyed. Everything gone. If that's true, mida, telesto, stand asides, saint 14, jade rabbit, etc... both weapons and armor pieces destroyed. You had a successful game and you threw it all away and got lazy. Maybe it's Activisions fault.. idk. Either way I paid for content and I'm playing the content i paid for with hopes that maybe bungie will see the potential this game has and makes it right. I thought about getting a job with bungie recently cause it must be nice doing the least possible and still collecting a paycheck. "Ok, what do we have for rewards and loot? Uhhh... They can make the gun they already own a different color.. BRILLIANT!!!" C'mon bungie!

                          • Imagine if those items were obtainable via secret achievements and missions in the game. Say if you get the Sweeper Bot emote for clearing all of the story/adventure icons off your map. Or you get an emblem, ship, shader for completing a raid on prestige with not a single player dying, how meaningful would those items be now? Players want something to remember thier achievements to either show it off to randoms or their friends. I remember in Destiny 1, the aww I felt when do seen someone with a flawless ornament. That was something that could only be obtained be completing one of Destiny's most difficult challenge, and those ornaments showed that off. If you seen someone with a full set of Trials- ornaments, you knew they meant business. These also could lead to loads of more gameplay opportunities to get yourself engaged in. The Sweeper Bot example may inspire someone who is not interested in the more, to go through all the story missions and adventures because they want that emote. They might even enjoy themselves. The prestige raid example would add tons to do in game. You may really want tat ship, shader, emote, etc. and so you try the challenge with your friends, only to fail because you're not powerful enough. That would promote going through the other activities to become more powerful and then try again. Eververse takes all of this potential away and it is severely limiting and hurting was D2 is capable of.

                            • You guys remember the Valentine’s Day event? Crimson doubles? Remember all the cool shaders and ghost shells it had? Remember how they all could be obtained by playing the crimson doubles game mode? That’s how this should be. Dawning items should be able to be obtained via random drop for some random yet festive game mode or public’s event.
