I think we've all heard the people claiming that patrol has become boring. Some of us have probably seen a post or two wanting AI enemies to be incorporated into PvP. Well I have a solution that I think would satisfy these people. I call it: Hunt Mode.
Hunt mode will be an altered, more difficult version of patrol, with an incorporated PvP element. The idea is that you have to be more cautious in order to survive, both against the enemies and "rogue guardians." Here are the differences in hunt mode:
•Select a certain region of the patrol area to start in, spawn in a random location within this region
•PvP enabled, including level advantages.
•Can take a fireteam of up to three, who will be your only allies.
•NPC enemies start at level 20
•Killing NPC's causes higher leveled, more dangerous NPC's to spawn, such as tanks, ogres, hydras, etc.
•Killing enough enemies will spawn a high level boss, who will actively pursue you across the patrol area
•Bosses have significantly higher drop rates and grant reputation when killed
•Killing "rogue guardians" (other players in the same area) will award significant amounts of reputation
•Reputation earned by killing "rogue guardians" depends on the level difference, as well as how long the killed guardian had been alive, and how many guardians they had killed
•Upon dying, players will have 30 seconds to be revived by a fireteam member. If they die without a fireteam, or are not revived in time, they will be kicked to orbit and removed from their fireteam.
•Upon returning to orbit, players have a chance to earn rewards based on how many bosses and "rouge guardians" their fireteam killed. These can include coins, ascendant materials, glimmer redeemables, large amounts of the area's resources, or even engrams.
I believe that this mode would make for a more exciting, more rewarding version of patrol. Additionally, it would be relatively simple to implement.
TL;DR Hunt mode is like patrol, but you can kill guardians who aren't in your fireteam, the enemies are much more dangerous, you can get much better loot, and you get kicked to orbit if you die without being revived. Regular patrol would still be available.
EDIT 1:
Someone brought up the fact that level advantages could discourage some players. Here is a portion of my comment, in which I discuss certain ways that the PvP element could be balanced:
For instance, players would get some sort of cooperation bonus when they work with players outside their fireteam to bring down a boss or a group of enemies. Also, players could build up bounty levels for killing multiple guardians in a single session. These players would grant more reputation when killed, and players would be alerted when they entered the same area as a player with a high bounty level. Or, the ratio of players to NPCs could be decreased so that you would be less likely to come across other players. Or maybe they could simply reduce the severity of level advantages against players.
Level advantages should remain, though, so that higher level players would do better against the NPC's.
EDIT 2: Just want to make it clear that this would be an entirely new mode, not a replacement to existing patrol.
EDIT 3:

Awesome idea, I would love it, won't happen. I really feel like Destiny has three employees in their branch of Bungie. =/

1 commentaireIt would ve VERY complex to integrate and Bungie would have to do a little more work than they would like to. Unless this is a DLC thing. Then, maybe they would do it. Overall, sounds very cool though. I'd like it

Do you really not understand how complicated it would be to implement even 1/3 of what you just said? Bungie can't even make a cheese free raid, how the hell would they be able to pull this off?

Its so beautiful

Much topic Such thought

1 commentaireAnother option for this would be make it faction based. You join and are spawned at the dead orbit/new monarchy/fWC/vanguard base, depending on what faction class item you have on. You could get bountys from the leaders like kill x amount of FWC guardians without dying. That way you have a "safe zone" where you can get fire team members if you don't have them. Also have it so you can access the vault so you can take items in and out if you wish

4 commentairesInteresting idea. Not sure about the kick to orbit part. What if you are going solo and die? I would say have a safe spawn area where you go when you die. After you leave that area you can get hit again. Also, i would try to have guardians matched based on similar levels (like lvl 5-10, 10-15, 15-20, etc....) to help keep it semi balanced. Overall good idea, doubt anything this cool would get implemented though, bungie is too worried about iron banner 5.0 at this point ( or maybe they will be really generous and give us queens wrath)....

1 commentaireDestiny is capable of this. Bungie is not capable of creating this, they cater to the casuals and not the hardcare

Sounds fun

I feel like the getting kicked to orbit would be rough. But this I feel has amazing potential, such as weather and maybe a much darker sky. Possibly set in old Chicago? Once again though, the orbit thing would be a bit rude. Give a chance for fire team revival, then let them repspawn, maybe somewhere random?

I like it, for another new possibility you should check this out. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/92177829/0/0

I really like this idea. However I would probably have it set on new planets or moons were not only are enemy forces present but so are rouge and faction aligned guardians. There is much potential with this, just hope it happens.

Interesting idea for sure, but I actually still enjoy Patrol and I hate PvP so I'm biased as to whether I would ever play this hypothetical mode.
-
Badass idea dude, I could spend days doing this

I really like this idea

I play a self made game in Crucible called F*ck That Guy. Basically you pick one guy on the opposing team and everyone teams up on him.

I have been a big supporter of the contested planet theory Where factions can war Put on a new monarchy cape you at war with dead orbit fwc etc.. Doing patrols on these planets have higher rep But much harder to complete because they are on a timer mobs are higher I originally liked faction kills give 1 rep But to stop the i kill you you kill me farmers that would attract maybe deaths lose a point To value good game play
