Who has yet to do the raid because of a lack of matchmaking? This is just a question to see where everyone stands.
EDIT: Thanks for all the feedback and constructive criticism, it really helps show where we stand.
EDIT 2: I tried to add 4 more options to the poll:
- I haven't due to a lack of online friends
- I haven't because I'm not a high enough level
- I haven't because I haven't paid for online services
-I haven't (other)
But I found that it wasn't possible. If you wanted to choose any of those 4 options, please say so.

Yes and no

I am glad there is no matchmaking, it would be a pain to try and get through the raid if you get stuck with half a team who don't have mics since especially the first time through communication is essential. At least by forming your own team you can be sure you have a group with mics. I can't stress enough how important communication is, we had one guy without a mic for the raid and once we decided to boot him and bring someone else in things went a lot smoother.

I haven't cos I can't be bothered

People that reply to your thread are obviously on the internet, on the Bungie website. I'd think those same people would have also seen the dozens of posts that pop up with people trying to get a match started for a raid. That's a form of matchmaking right there.

1 commentaireThe standard argument against matchmaking is that you will be paired with randoms but this is not really the issue. As we all know, if you use destinytracker or destiny LFG then you will be paired with equally random people. The difference is that these people have made an effort to find a raid to join and will most likely make an effort to complete it. (Or at least won't bail the first time you wipe) it also takes time to find and join another party which takes work. Not hard work but enough to make you care about who you embark your raid mission with. If matchmaking was an option then there is little incentive for people to stay and make any effort to work together as the players can easily be replaced, almost instantly by the click of a button. There is no reason not to just go and find a different/better group. The entrance to the vault of glass will be littered with fireteams who have been deserted by half of their team before they even open the door. I used to want matchmaking but having now seen what the raid is all about I totally agree with the way things are. I know that people say that even if they do implement a raid system then you don't have to use it and of course that is right. The thing is though that it's in everyone's best interest to make the effort to choose their team mates, even if they are found from a website. With matchmade groups you won't be able to control what the levels of your fellow guardians are or even know if they speak your language. High level players matched with level 26s on their first run might not stay around for long. Also a level 26 who is struggling might bail to find a better team over and over until they get what they want. Both of these situations leave a team of 5 stuck in a raid with little chance of success simply because you had no choice about who you got and neither did they. I like to think people are trying to be helpful by saying all this but everyone feels patronised and dictated to when others say it's a bad Idea for the reasons I have mentioned as well as many others. I'm fairly sure matchmaking will be added and i guess we'll see then. This probably wasn't the place for my rantings but there you go. And I know, tldr.

I havent due to the fact I havent gotten the time to yet. Next week is my mid semester break so I should have time to try it out then.

5 commentairesI don't have any Destiny playing real life friends, therefore I'm yet to attempt a raid. Matchmaking for Raids would be an opportunity for gamers like me to have a chance at that. My play time is variable, therefore it is extremely difficult to organise a Raid group.
-
Dude...just look around online for a good clan on your console who plays the raid
-
It's fairly easy to get a group. Match making would be helpful for those who couldn't get a group together or get accepted in a group but when it comes down to the communication needed for the raid it'll be pointless bc. It could be 1 person who -blam!-s it up for the entire group.

Modifié par SerenityNOWWW : 10/7/2014 7:36:46 PMI've helped friends with parts of it, never played the thing through though. Matchmaking wouldn't change that one bit. If there was matchmaking I wouldn't use it. There are some <25's on my playlist that would have hit that ish up immediately though. They beg me to do VoG with them. I can't even imagine the teammates you would end up with from matchmaking. Oh, wait, I can, since I am constantly carrying newbs in crucible and strikes. /e don't get me started on the number of people that don't have headsets

4 commentairesPeople seem to think it's going to be possible with 5 random people, no it wont be most of the time. You'll probabley get level 24s without mics and you wont be able to beat it
-
We were missing one person, would have been nice in that situation. Doing it with 5 randoms would make me want to pull my hair out though.
-
I joined a clan and found a bunch of cool guys I really enjoy playing with. I recommend the same. Also, make sure you have a mic especially if you try the raid!
-
it's really hard to find people you can trust and respect without real socialization there's no way to know what a player is like w/o having them in your fire team first. I'm in a clan and have a few buddies now so we'll be there soon

I have tried the raid a couple times with friends and some guys from the tower. We all spoke the same language ( all native speakers), so communication with the strangers from the tower should not have been an issue. Yet they kept trying to do certain parts using their own strategy, rather than mine, which I developed by reading guides as well as trying the raid several times and therefore gaining practical experience. I must say that it was very frustrating that we never managed to kill Atheon, even though all of us were lvl 27 +, simply because the randoms did not communicate well enough and ignored my advice. Perhaps I am just really unlucky and others do not have this type of problem with strangers, but I do believe that matchmaking would be a terrible thing for the raid, since many lvl 26/27 guys would just want to try it and not take it serious. It would also be a big opportunity for "trolls" as they could just run infront of a gorgon all the time etc. I do however support the idea of matchmaking for Nightfall strikes, as they can be completed by someone carrying the weak member(s) of the group. I hope this post was not too confusing and I apologize for potential mistakes in my spelling, as I am not a native English speaker.

Modifié par Blue A10 : 10/7/2014 6:40:14 PMFew reasons. 1. Not particularly excited for it, don't care about loot or mechanics. 2. Don't have a mic, so I have to be that silent guy who, to everyone else, may be the one who's causing the group to fail, despite my actual contributions. 3. Even if I felt like playing it and had a mic, I'm not level 28 yet. I'm one upgrade away from that, so I may consider giving it a shot soon enough. I have very little idea of how all the "mechanics" work either. Basically, this point is "unprepared and undergeared". All of these also sort of combine into "I'm not going in unless I know time won't wasted."

1 commentaireMe and two of my friends invited random people in the tower, and we got a really good group together. We got all the way to the final boss fight, and HOLY SHIT IT IS -blam!-ING HARD! We couldn't beat it. I added them all to my friends list, though, we're going to retry it soon.
-
2 commentairesand you won't be able to do the raid because of matchmaking due to the fact there are so many bad random players out there.
-
2 commentairesIf your having trouble finding team mates to do the raid with, if you're a lvl 28 or 29, just go hang out in the tower for a few minutes. When I go there as my 29, it normally takes only about 5 minutes before I start getting invites. A matchmaking system akin to the strikes would work well though.

This is the thing I've been using to help.
