We are pretty much going to be held hostage with the status quo until the entire system collapses. There is way too much money in the current system being spent by those who don't want the system to change, ie the insurance lobbies. The advantages of going to a single payer system greatly exceeds the disadvantages, but a lot within our system would need to change in order for it to work. Advantages would include; -Standard coverage for all -Reduced cost in administrative overhead -Standardize the billing and collection for care rendered -Standardize drug formularies Things that would need to change; -Comprehensive tort reform -Increase the number of primary care physicians in the US Things that would make it work amazingly; -A national standardized electronic medical record with universal access across the nation -A national prescription narcotic tracking system

I seriously can't understand why every citizen having access to adequate healthcare could ever be seen as a bad thing.

1 commentaireBecause people are told by their parents or conservative media that socialism is a bad word.

1 commentaireSome people complain that they shouldn't have to pay for others' health care, and some people are OK with their tax dollars financing wars in other countries.

1 commentaireBecause people are greedy -blam!-s, that's why. Opposing national healthcare is something to be ashamed of.

Look at how well our government has been with education. I can't wait for them to ruin our health just the same. I'm not saying our current system isn't a mess, but that would just make things even worse. The simple fact is healthcare is not owed to you.

Not enough Doctors.

Because it could cause a decreased in the quality of healthcare. That's just what I heard. I have no opinion on socialized medicine because I am currently ignorant on the subject.

I dunno, but what I do know is that because of the way hospitals are, the hospital I was born at shut down its maternity ward recently because of the... people (trying to be nice)... that would go to the ER and then not pay. But I'm not really sure how relevant that is.

Because some people feel that it isn't their job to pay for others who are too lazy or don't care, ignoring the fact that the current system is broken and corrupt. So much for the Love Thy Neighbour Shit
