Would Hitler have gone to Heaven? (provided of course that he did not kill himself)
Contrariwise, did Ghandi, who devoted his life to non-violence and equality, go to hell because he was born Hindu?

I do not believe in god. I consider myself a morally straight person when put up against the standards of the bible. If I end up being wrong, and there is a god, I hope that he does not burn me for eternity, because even though I do not believe in him, I have read the bible, and I go to church, because I believe it gives me a good moral standpoint to live my live by.
-
No, Ghandi went to hell because he was just generally a bad individual.
Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out many demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from me, your workers of lawlessness."
No.

1 commentaireAccording to Christianity, yes. If you are a Christian and deny this, then you aren't a follower of the Christian religion.
-
No, because he did not whole heartedly feel bad for what he did. Whether or not your Christian is besides the fact, he would have gone to purgatory for a shit load of time. And ghandi went to heaven, his respective heaven (who's to say their isnt one whole heave separated into sections, if that makes sense.)

I guess we will all find out sooner or later...

I was taught in church that if you aren't Christian or Catholic, you're going to Hell unless you say "I believe in Jesus Christ, my savior". Since Hitler was technically Christian, he would have gone to heaven even though he pretty much went down as one of the most hated people in history, due to what I was taught. And Gandhi? Well, he got the short end of the stick for not believing in Jesus, even though he went down as one of the most loved and one of the most influential people in history, all because he didn't believe in Jesus Christ. Note, I consider Christians and Catholics pretty much the same. They preach the same, and Catholicism is pretty much a sect of Christianity. Both of them pretty much gave me the same belief that if you didn't believe in Jesus Christ, you're not going to be saved and you're going to burn for eternity in Hell. Even Gandhi. There is a reason why I distance myself from my religion now and only believe in the things that are "morally straight", as the BSA would put it.

No. I like being mormon. Lots more good people go to heaven.
-
Nah, I'd let those fuckers burn no matter what. Now, it's not because I hate them for what they did, or the impact of their works. I just hate those filthy Derka-Derkas and Krauts.
-
Yes. If he legitamately asked for forgiveness then God would forgive him on the spot. However he was a cold bastard until the very end. He also believed in natural selection, which is why he always believed the jews were bad. Because in order for the strong to thrive, the weak must perrish.

He broke a couple commandments regardless of repenting so he's certainly getting an atomic wedgy for sure.

Charlie, doesn't an old guy with a kid like yourself have better things to do than to question something you don't even believe in on the internet?

5 commentairesIf God exists I'd hope he wasn't so vehemently contemptuous that he would chuck an individual into a lake of fire for eternity simply because he didn't accept his existence. A being of such egotistical nature shouldn't be worshiped in the first place.

Charlie, please show me your technique! How do you get so many responses and rustled jimmies?

2 commentaires
Would Hitler have gone to Heaven? (provided of course that he did not kill himself)
Honestly, it would depend on the sect of Christianity. If Hitler had not been baptised (I know nothing about his religious history), and someone performed an emergency baptism shortly before his death, then he could have gone to heaven according to Catholic doctrine. I'm not as familiar with other sects, which have varying degrees of rigidness in regards to what is required for the penance and forgiveness of a mortal sinner (I mean someone who commits mortal [major] sins as opposed to venial [minor] sins, not sinners-who-are-mortal). It may or may not be necessary to communicate your penance through a priest, depending on the sect.
Contrariwise, did Ghandi, who devoted his life to non-violence and equality, go to hell because he was born Hindu?
In school I had several Catholic theologians teach that Ghandi went to heaven. The Church's official stance is that non-Christians can go to heaven based on their merits and spiritual state (basically, being a fundamentally good person in life), however, they often qualify it as being people who are somehow not able to fully accept or know about Christianity. Whether this means that those with able access to Christianity but still reject it (i.e. pretty much all Westerners) can still get there, I don't know. Muslims and Jews are definitely included because they worship the same God. If you're truly interested in the topic and not just trying to shit-stir the Flood, I'd recommend meeting with priests or theologians of various Christian sects and having a conversation with them.

1 commentaireI will just say this.... You should not worry about "is this person going to heaven is this one going to hell ?" don't worry about they. Tell them what they need to hear or they will be told what they need to hear. and worry about your self getting in. because in the end you are the only one who can make the choice for your self. your parents can't get you in and vice versa. And even then its through Jesus which the door lies.

1 commentaireEven in the Bible, it is stated that each person's relationship with God is unique and solely belongs to that person. My belief is that everyone has a purgatory where they have a chance to repent for all of their sins, and can be given help to achieve this. It also says in the Bible that everyone will be in purgatory at once, I think sometime after Armageddon. So, given my beliefs happening to be correct %100 down to the letter, you and I could both be up there with both of them at some point. TL;DR - Yes.

Modifié par Snake Plissken : 2/22/2013 6:55:35 PMGodwin's law, anyone? It's certainly pushing it. Anyhoo, belief in God is neither a prerequisite or license for entering into Heaven. If, in his last moments, Hitler had felt truly sorry for his misdeeds, and sorry because he could see that they were wrong, not because they had led him to defeat, then he may have had a shot at heaven. It is my sincere belief that nobody is beyond redemption. With regard to Gandhi, as Richards rightly pointed out, he wasn't the saint the history books describe him as. That said, it seems as though the world is ultimately a better place for his time in it, so yes, I believe he would also have a chance at Heaven.

1 commentaireJust felt like pointing out, Gandhi was in reality a racist d1ck who was discriminatory toward Africans and abused his wife.

1 commentaireThis has always been my main beef with Christianity, the "worship me or you go to hell" part. Surely such a kind and loving god would not need praise from petty beings such as humans to accept them into heaven. To be honest it makes him sound quite tyrannical, like when Augustus created a religion around worshiping roman emperors.
-
He clearly didn't. And it's more than realizing he exists, it is has to be full-on repentance, the acceptance of Him as Lord, and allowing Him to cleanse you of sin. Like Jesus said "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Not all who say Jesus existed will enter, but only those with true repentant hearts who do the will of Him will enter.
