It does shouldn’t ever be in energy slot as it is now

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather it stay in the heavy slot too for some diversity in it, but the gun just isn't sticky. I played a lot of gambit with it last season and I could not hit any guardians in the head with it ever, even waiting for it to lock on. I'm a bad sniper admittedly, but any other sniper just felt better.

What about the new linear introduces this season? I guarantee you the hitboxes are just as big or even bigger
