"...and the priest asked a question that the Daughters of Oryx could not. If Oryx can't be resurrected, can he be remade?" - Toland, Random patrol on the moon.
Oryx's return is inevitable. He will be final Champion of the Darkness.
This is will post address why he is coming and why he is Destiny best antagonist both lore and storywise.
1) No one can replace him as the Taken King
Since Oryx's death, many have tried to take his place as the new Taken King and failed. Savathun now controls the Taken, but she controls them through Quria's simulation of Oryx. It's already been speculated that Oryx gave the vex mind to Savathun with the intention of it killing her.
“If it kills you, then you deserve to die.” Oryx says it with a quiet thrill, a happy thrill, because it is good to say the truth. - Books of Sorrow verse 5:2
2) The Hive needs him
When Savathun fails, Xivu Arath will be left, but War can't come alone. "I secretly believe that I will be stronger with Oryx to war against." - Xivu Arath, Book of Sorrow 4:5. He needs someone as strong as Oryx to fight against.
Vision 47:
"he first comes in a shadow.
A window becomes a door.
An ebb becomes a gulf.
The second comes in bones.
Tithes offering feasts, carrying laws.
A path torn, minds shattered.
The third does not come alone. It cannot.
Our truths woven into their being, desires beyond our own.
The first needs the second to fail, the third needs the first to succeed.
The second will never cease, yet the first always prevails. The third is born of all outcomes.
Unless, all ends flow from the same pit."
The first is Oryx. The second is Savathun. The third is Xivu Arath and he needs Oryx to prevail.
3) The Darkness needs a champion
"The Darkness will rise, and choose its champions. They will be its hands, its will and its voice. And some of the light will hear its words." - Osiris, Prophecy of Osiris Comic
Oryx is one of the few characters few that have spoken with the Darkness. Oryx truly believes the Darkness is the final shape and spent is life serving it.
Although we can't say who the champions are, we can say Oryx certainly fits the bill.
4) Because we killed him
Oryx believes that if you die then you deserve it because you failed to understand something. The same logic applies to Oryx. When Oryx returns he will realize his failure against us. He failed to recognize the Guardian as a worthy opponent and that Light is a source of power.
He will do as has done before and seek out the universe's secrets. The secrets of the Pyramid people, his Worm Gods, and the Darkness. Last time he emerged as the Taken King. I wonder what form he will take.
For Oryx death is a gift.
5) His story is our story
Born mere mortals into a war as old as time. Died countless times and have learned through each experience. Lived with only a vague understanding of the truth. Both will have known failure.
Failure? I mean the Guardian is set to fail in Destiny 3 and in that failure the Guardian accepts Darkness. This part I believe is what Shadowkeep has set the stage for.
Although similar our journeys have been we find ourselves on opposite sides of the battlefield
6) Theme. The truth of Light and Darkness
Oryx swore that he would never stop seeking to understand. The final battle will prove who is right.
Oryx will bring his Darkness and the Guardian will bring within him/her Light and Darkness in balance.
Oryx must know the Truth.

4 commentairesThe final god of pain—— Hated Nezarec. There’s your end boss of Destiny. “He is that which is end. And he shall rise again.” Nezarec’s Sin exotic helmet.
-
2 commentairesLet Oryx stay dead imo, I won't be outraged if he came back but I want to feel as if my actions in Destiny are actually effecting the enemy
-
1 commentaireOk Thanos
-
Xivu is a she
-
if he returns Bungie basically should say publicly We have no idea on how to tell a story in video games at all
-
6 commentairesOryx is inevitable because Quria is likely simulating him perfectly. Unless Savathun spoke with Akka's bits to learn to Take how else is she doing it.
-
8 commentaires<Any Guardian who joins the Darkness has the big dumb. I hate the idea of this choice shit.>
-
Oryx is a micro story in the larger destiny-verse...sorry.

5 commentairesThe Darkness doesn't "Need" a champion. It's presence still ends worlds on it's own. It just has a desire to be represented and wants one being to be uncontested and unchallenged as the final shape because it can't see things any other way, much like how the Traveler can only see a universe of coexistence and harmony. But Oryx is not coming back. He was killed by light and sword logic. He's deader than rock and roll. It would make more sense for the Darkness to work through Savathun or Xivu Arath but even that doesn't seem to be in the works yet. Personally, I'm sick of the Hive. Show us the Clipse and Aphelions!

15 commentairesThis theory would work except that we gave Oryx his 'true death' by killing him inside of his throne world.
When Oryx returns he will realize his failure against us. He failed to recognize the Guardian as a worthy opponent and that Light is a source of power.
He failed to recognize those 16 ogre bombs going off at one time busted his -blam!-! Challenge mode was fun.
-
Stop with the darkness guardians.. Just.. Ow my head.. We already ranked down once and through that we learned just how fragile people w/o such things have to go through. We learned and connected with the weak, so we could rise and form new understandings for our trip to power again.

2 commentairesI’m just saying... he wants our lamp. Not for the fact that the hive are based on moth people, but they are. He wants our lamp. I mean light. Plus, we didn’t take his crown and no one else can. Not mara, not savathun, etc. Oryx and the guardian are opposites.

3 commentairesSo it says champions in plural in number 3. If Randall the Vandal, Master Rahool and Tess isn't among them I'll be dissapointed. Hands down the biggest villains at different time periods to this date.
-
Yea except not what the hive meant. They mean anyone who seeks to truly understand Oryx will become him and thus take the mantle of hive king/Queen.
-
That’s pretty good, but I was thinking that Osiris was actually referring to the Champions in the Ordeal Nightfalls. Because the champions seem to have a Nightmare-like aesthetic to them, and coincidentally only Hive and Vex champions have been made. My theory is that the darkness “chooses” these specific champions to test the guardians

Modifié par DRPete : 10/13/2019 10:44:43 AMPerhaps oryx have savuthún the vex mind not with the intention to kill but with the intention to exceed the limits of his final death?

3 commentairesNah Nezarec as the final god in Destiny

10/10 dude loved reading all of that and learned some stuff too :)

Inevitable? Endgame?! Where, oh where, have I heard this story before? 🤔

10 commentairesModifié par Shockwave 989 : 10/12/2019 4:18:22 PMSomeone interprets a statement of something being remade as a resurrection despite Toland making the difference clear in use of both terms. If I remake something, it is being replicated. This is not necessarily a carbon copy, simply that is similar. The Hive were looking for a Champion to replace Oryx by accumulating power through the Sword Logic. To claim the Throne through blood. The Hive on the Moon attempted this, but what presumably is the Dungeon boss schemed and murdered this Champion through heretical magics.

I don't agree with you, but I think you made a good case.

Oryx is dead, fool.
