Honestly, I enjoy hand cannons in gameplay. They have power and often times are a deciding factor in PvP. But why do we have so many exotic hand cannons and so few of other weapon archetypes??
Hand cannons are the only type of exotic that we consistently see being introduced to the game. With the exception of the third season of Destiny 2, there is always at least 1 exotic hand cannon introduced while the other weapons are significantly lagging behind in offerings. There are always at least twice as many exotic hand cannon offerings as there are other weapon types. Don't believe me? Below is a detailed count of all the exotic weapons currently in D2 with a note next to hand cannons and bows for the recently announced exotics.
**NOTE: This list is as complete as I can get it based on what's in the database now & what I'm aware of being announced/shown so far. Also, yeah, some exotics function uniquely or similar to other weapon types. I believe the term Exotic clearly indicates that the weapon should be unique in some fashion or another. How it functions doesn't change the weapon slot or official classification of the weapon, though.

The developers have constantly commented that they want balance in the gameplay and want to see players using a variety of weapon types. But then they continuously release hand cannons and leave the other types to languish. The common solution seems to be part "add more hand cannons", part "nerf weapons that we think are OP to balance it out" and part "apply a moderate buff to obscure weapon to encourage usage". Could you please consider bringing in exotics that aren't hand cannons? Perhaps instead of nerfing favorite gear because it's "OP", you could perhaps buff other gear to bring it up to that fun feel of OP instead of making sure everything is bogged down by mediocrity?
I know there are new gear & balances coming along with Shadowkeep, but FFS please stop focusing so much on hand cannons, at least for a little bit. *END RANT*
EDIT: Added Monte Carlo notation beside auto rifle count
EDIT 2: Added unknown Trace Rifle beside Trace Rifle count
EDIT 3: Added notes related to common comments
EDIT 4: Added in links to announced weapons (that I know of) and filled in other announced weapons as brought to my attention

1 commentaireI just love the fact that they specifically said that they had heard the community and understood that hand cannon fatigue was a thing the community was suffering. And yet here we are and yet another exotic hand cannon appears. I guess classic Bungie, they say one thing, but you never know if that is actually what they are going to do.
-
1 commentaireTrace rifle is named divinity and rocket is deathbringer
-
How about we just round it off with Hawkmoon being that last Exotic handcannon for a good long while? That'll be fine.
-
7 commentairesI have the most SIMPLE ANSWER! Play borderlands they like all weapon types!
-
3 commentairesOn a lighter note; if this was Borderlands, we'd have a Hand Cannon that shoots smaller HCs which then explode into even smaller explosive HCs before finally being deployed as teeny tiny hand cannon turrets that shoot......you guessed it!!! MOOOAAAARR HAAANNNDD CAAANNNNOOONNNSS!!!!
-
I’ve literally seen them reply to a post like this saying ‘we’ll pass on the feedback you don’t want as many exotic hand cannons’. Well, they either lied or just flushed the suggestion down the toilet. I think think have some sort of mental problem in the ‘decisions’ department.
-
3 commentairesModifié par RussellMania : 8/31/2019 7:27:37 PMAnd they are all terrible on console anyway due to their inherent traits like low damage, high recoil, and bloom. As a HC enthusiast, I don't want any more exotic HC's added until this is fixed and they are actually useful.
-
4 commentairesIt’s because they are easy to balance and the most versatile type of gun in the game. They are also the most fun, who doesn’t love shooting space aliens with revolvers.
-
2 commentairesBecause Handcannons are easier to draw on the Etchasketch, & take less colouring in with Luke's crayons... Luke loves crayons....you should read his 5000 Word blog 'Directors Crayons'
-
And the only one I have is Sunshot. 😁
-
6 commentaires1KV isn’t a fusion rifle! I think you misunderstood something. It’s a... It’s... Emmm... anyway, It’s something else!
-
Most of them suck and other exotics are far mor powerful.
-
2 commentairesThis should be the least of worries but okay... there are plenty of e weapons other than exotic HCs. STFU.
-
2 commentairesI know you're focusing on Exotics but really, Handcannons overall have been given too much attention. Don't forget the top tier Legendaries... Trust, Not Forgotten, Luna's Howl...I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

14 commentairesLets face it. PvP is always catering for Hunters. The supers, the dodgy dodge mechanics, the map sizes, the layouts etc. Snipers and scouts are underpowered and need a bit of skill to use. Auto rifles are about as effective as throwing feathers at the enemy, fusions take too long to charge, sidearms are peashooters, so what could be more effective than a hunter with an overpowered hand cannon that fires across the map, can fire faster than an auto, and is as accurate as a sniper. Add the fact that they bounce round maps like demented frogs and use scuff pads with auto head shot and rapid fire, there is no place for any other weapons, or for that matter, Titans or Warlocks. You guessed it, I don't like Hunters

Would love more exotic autos and scouts.Would love a legendary auto added to pvp since it has never had one except one of the earlier seasons for iron banner but it has not come back with random rolls but pvp has 3 damn hand cannons.Even Menagerie has no auto, pulse or scout but it has a hand cannon. So sick of hand cannons.
-
Because they please the pvp ytb influencer a...holes, and Luke Smith clearly sayd he loves HC's and must be some oher devs that love them....is that symple.
-
Anyone saying this is a good thing because "HaNdCaNnOnS aRe CoOl AnD tHeY'rE tHe MaIn GuN iN dEsTiNy" is a clown.

Why not an exotic hand cannon
-
6 commentairesAs a person who likes handcannons even I agree that the exotic weapon variety sucks. Also buff the -blam!- out of swords they are lame especially with the wonky hit detection half the time.

1 commentaireWhat if Malfeasance was a Sniper Rifle? Malfeasance - Kinetic SNR - Intrinsic: Explosive Shadow - Barrel: Extended Barrel - Magazine: Tactical Mag - Trait: Taken Predator - Deals increased Damage to Taken and marks high priority taken or invaders. - Stock: Hand Laid Stock Stats: - Impact: 55 - Range: 50 - Stability: 71 - Handling: 44 - Reload: 65 - Aim Assist: 72 - Recoil Direction: 75 - RPM: 140 - Mag: 5 Looks: - Keeps the revolver design and magazine. Looks are more along the line of the Sole Survivor Sniper Rifle. It’s Barrel is lease open at the end, but still contains the vents and they run all the way down to the magazine of the gun. The scope is open and low zoom. The whole gun keeps the black with gold filigree. The scope is slightly offset to the side from the barrel of the gun. The explosion damage is increased and revolves around activating on tanky targets. The explosions still activate after 5 landed shots, but the explosion damage is increased to compensate.

2 commentairesSo what you’re saying is bring back Hawkmoon?
-
4 commentairesThorn, Ace, and last word we’re all heavily requested by the community. When forsaken dropped the requests were last word and thorn, hawkmoon, gjallarhorn, no land beyond, gjallarhorn, and gjallarhorn. Sadly gjallarhorn isn’t coming back, and hawkmoon and no land beyond would be a bit too random to throw in(they would probably have to fit with the season, season of opulence was hawkmoon’s chance, but didn’t make the cut) Also take into account which weapons are used. The hand cannons are. Do you want bungie making a bunch of exotics you won’t use? D1 has trespasser(I loved that thing). Pretty much every legendary has the trespasser perk on it now. The legendaries have encroached on exotic territory now, and there is little more variation possible without bungie being forced to nerf something into oblivion or put out a bad exotic. Handcannons have the most available variation in them, and aren’t completely avoided by all people in the game(swords(young wolf’s howl please?))
side note: Bring back khovostov
-
2 commentairesTo help the sidearms id love to see a trespasser return anyone else down?
-
Precision weapons are “more fun” to make

It is getting a bit silly now.
