My friends keep telling me to watch anime because of many reasons, but the truth is, I don't know where to start. Furthermore, I don't really see the appeal of overexaggerated personalites and such, but I guess I can't bash it without watching a series. If any of you can hit me up with some recommendations, that would be great!

Just got done watching the count of monte Cristo. It's solid. Also I can definitely recommend resort boin, it's 10/10. Bible black isn't half bad either.

4 commentairesI’ll say this, there are good animes and bad ones. No matter what you watch, don’t apply your opinion to anime as a whole. That’s like watching one live action movie, and then applying your opinion to that movie to every live action movie. Anyway, generally speaking, I tend not to like anime, but there are a few good ones. Flip Flappers, & Shiki being my favorites.

Ghost in the Shell. FullMetal Alchemist. Cowboy Bebop Princess Mononoke Neon Genesis Evagelion. Appleseed. Bleach. Inuyasha.

2 commentairesTry some Studio Ghibli movies. Grave of the Fireflies and Spirited Away are great.

I’ve never really watched any series but as far as movies go you can’t go past the classics like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, Princess Mononoke, Ninja Scroll and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Plus many more I can’t think of now.

My personal favorite is revenge of the weeb
Furthermore, I don't really see the appeal of overexaggerated personalites and such, but I guess I can't bash it without watching a series.
A lot of "mainstream" shows do unfortunately have exaggerated personalities, but at the same time a lot of shows don't have them or have unique characters. I'd say most of the shows I've seen, in fact, have solid character development, and additionally, either no "traditional" anime tropes or complete subversion of them. I'll list some examples in three groups: very well known (juggernauts in anime), fairly known to well known, and shows that aren't really talked about much anymore. Here are some shows from group 1:
Boku no Hero Academia Cowboy Bebop Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Hunter x Hunter Ghost in the Shell Gurren Lagann Hellsing Ultimate JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (all parts) Mob Psycho 100 Neon Genesis Evangelion One Punch Man Samurai Champloo Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan Space Dandy Steins;Gate Basically anything by Studio Ghibli
Now here are some shows from group 2:
Afro Samurai Black Lagoon Darker than Black FLCL/"Fooly Cooly" Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Lupin III series Monogatari series Parasyte: The Maxim Pop Team Epic Psycho Pass Redline The Promised Neverland
And group 3:
Ergo Proxy Jormungand Michiko and Hatchin Outlaw Star Serial Experiments Lain
Some people may say to simply look at the list of group 1 shows as beginner anime, and while they are certainly some of the more accessible shows, one need not begin a foray into anime with only these kinds of shows. Many of my first anime were on Toonami and weren't exactly mainstream. However, some of the shows in groups 2 and 3 will be hard for a beginner to appreciate, such as Monogatari and Pop Team Epic (the latter actually makes a lot of references to other shows). Even JoJo, a series that's influenced hundred of anime and manga since its debut in 1987, may be too weird for a beginner. But if you watch it, you'll understand all the memes and jojokes.

Death Note is the only anime I ever watched and I enjoyed that one.

School Days. Don't look up reviews, don't listen to the bullshit all the sheep say about it, just watch it.

RWBY is probably my favorite anime and a great starter one. Great storyline, amazing fight choreography, memorable characters, and some of the most badass weapons I have ever seen. And it’s all on YouTube. Official, dubs, subs, everything. If you want to get started, look up “RWBY Red Trailer. https://youtu.be/pYW2GmHB5xs There’s the link. It’s only 4 minutes long. Watch it and see if you like it.

Cory and the house

Not sure if it counts, but Avatar: The Last Airbender is good. So is Legend of Korra. Korra is actually more emotional and darker than Airbender.

Cowboy Bebop

4 commentairesModifié par Pyrus : 6/14/2019 5:09:24 PMDefinitely give JoJo's Bizarre Adventure a try! It's...weird, but it's definitely one of the best animes you can watch. I definitely recommend watching Part 3 (Stardust Crusaders), as it's the easiest part for newcomers to get into. Plus it's the first Part to introduce Stands, which has been a staple feature of JJBA ever since.
You're definitely gonna be surprised by how much the show's referenced in other popular series!
Maybe Dreginboll.

2 commentairesIt goes downhill from here. First you will watch it casually and claim that you just like one show.then you will begin to call yourself a weeb, then you will begin buying their merchandise, like body pillows and stuff. Then you will begin thinking you are an anime character. Then you will fall in love with an anime character and spend the rest of your life moping about how you will never be able to touch her.

Cowboy bebop is a classic: 25 eps 1 season. Code Geass is a great mech anime: 25 eps, 2 seasons

... Hentai...
not included in the DLC
If you wanna go into the deep end, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Death Note is kinda like a Sherlock Holmes show. Stein's Gate is about a guy who invents a time machine. It's one of the better shows that has time travel not be stupid. Attack on Titan is pretty easy to get into, but if you don't like gore, stay FAR away. Mob Psycho 100 is pretty good.

Robotech.
