Okay, I know most gamers just hate water levels and think they're the spawn of the devil or whatever. So if you want to scream at me in the comments, well I can't stop you.
But I think they get a lot more hate than they deserve. In fact, I think water levels are among the best levels in a game.
So I made a post!
I'm not actually going to write an essay defending water levels, but I will ask you to talk about your favourite water levels in games: Their level design, aesthetics, soundtrack, enemies, bosses...
If it's part of a water level in a game, this is the place to praise it.

6 commentairesNot exactly a level, but I do prefer Shipwrecked to the regular Don’t Starve I think.

1 commentaireI read this as water levels, as in Earth’s rising water levels. My interpretation of the first sentence was... well...

1 commentaireI enjoyed the Underwater Frigate part in Metroid Prime mostly for the music. Also in that same level when those jetpack Space Pirates shoot at you and the screen flashes, you can see Samus's face reflection on her visor. She reacts to the light as she will blink. That was one small detail I loved about this game. You didn't even get that in a game like Halo 3 for example where you can see Chief's visor outline.

5 commentairesWant to know what’s worse than water levels? Fire levels! Burning lava everywhere, spouts of fire going off every three seconds. Now those are awful levels!

7 commentairesI don't like water levels because I don't like deep waters IRL. Freaks me out more than any horror game could

Subnautica. That is all.

I actually like the Water Temple in OoT

1 commentaireAs global temperatures rise with sea levels. Oddly water levels are becoming less frequent in video games. Checkmate atheists!

8 commentairesGreat Bay Temple from Majora's Mask was a water temple done right. Jolly Roger Bay is one of my favorite levels in Super Mario 64. If I think of more I'll edit this

1 commentaireI always like the music in water levels, at least. It tends to be nice, calming, and relaxing.

1 commentaireLike the underwater battles in MH3. Heard they decided against them in worlds. Was slightly saddened since I loved them. I just don't like the water levels in games where your character can't hold his breath for the life of him. All I ask for is 30 seconds not 10. Funny enough I almost always pick Argonian in elder scrolls games so I can do some deep sea exploration. Not much loot in Skyrim, but oblivion has some neat finds.
