I didn't choose to be an atheist. I was born that way. I chose not to follow a religion.
We are all born athirst, it's whether we choose a religion to follow, that's the changing factor.

You aren’t born an atheist nor are you born a theist. You don’t know anything of the world, your mind at that age is soft clay that can be sculpted. Your environment nurtures what you know about the world at a young age, and it isn’t until you’re able to think when you can be a theist or an atheist.

Depends on your definition of atheist. We are born without the concept of gods. So therefore technically we [i]are[/i] atheist because you can’t believe in something if you aren’t even aware of it as a concept. Atheism isn’t necessarily the belief that a god absolutely does not exist (although some atheists do claim that). It can be just a lack of belief in god.

Yes to an extent you're right. But you don't get taught to be an atheist where as you have to be religion. When you're born you don't know religion so you don't believe in a god, resulting in what can only be described as atheism.
