I was opening the door to put something in the car, and he wormed his way around me and bolted out the door and down the street, pausing at every tree, mailbox, and lamppost to mark his territory.
I probably should have at least made some attempt to go after him, but I know that if he doesn’t see anyone making any sort of attempt to come after him, he sort of just meanders down the street taking his sweet time. So, I just calmly loaded my things in the car, turned to my right, saw he was halfway down the street, and started walking after him.
It wasn’t until I walked about a block that he finally noticed me, and then he tore off again, excited about the chase that was about to go down, I guess.
I full-on sprinted after him and caught up to him after another block, grabbed his collar, and walked him back to the house, back the two blocks.
I am now a tad out of breath after running at full speed. I’m usually more of a marathon jogger type of runner, not a sprinter.
Just felt like I should share that story. Any of you guys got some interesting chase stories concerning dogs (or other pets)?

Even with the edit I still thought you ran your pupper down. Once I threw my dog a toy, he tried to catch it, missed, and bounced it at someone else. They were hit right in the face. They looked at the toy, looked at me, and threw the toy directly at me.

0-0 good thing that you clarified the title

I have a dog story but I didn’t chase her...
So I was playing with my dog and back about old house she would full on sprint around a corner and back. Then my mom is coming around that same corner and my dog doesn’t notice her and she runs into her knee pretty much shattering it and then my dog calms down. We then take my mom to the hospital and they said that she is going a knee replacement and now she has a titanium knee. (This happened 3 years ago)
My dog was good at not running away. One time we left the gate from the backyard to the front open by mistake. Instead of going into the street or wandering she went straight to the front door and asked to be let in. She was a good dog. Our cats on the other hand... One, which always wants to escape the house, once slipped through the front door while we were leaving the house. He runs straight, turns right and heads down the space between my house and the neighbor's and is stuck at the dead end. He then gets re-captured. Now that wouldn't be such a grand story in itself except he has done this a few times (he's...persistent and has gotten all of the family at least once), and each time he takes a left and gets stuck. One of those times you're glad they're not as smart as you'd like
