Anthem can’t kill Destiny.

It’s already dead. 888,000 players (Destiny Tracker). But since 2 million was the worst day for Bungie when 9 months without content before, Destiny is already dead. Why? Because no one else will buy this product anymore. When it was 2 million minimum, there was actually people willing to come back when they had a reason to.... Look at ANY Destiny Facebook post comments. No one cares about this game anymore but me and you. But 888k times $40 DLC a year, divided by 750 employees, equals obvious bankruptcy announcement pending. —— Following is personal opinion and irrelevant to post’s facts itself. ——- Edit: Enhancement Cores and other nonstop issues are the final chances to acknowledge who you have left. I don’t have an Enhancement Core problem, but I do have a problem of losing everyone to other games because you PROVE you don’t care about the few people you have left. Last Word requiring Crucible makes sense when the gun’s only value is in, Crucible. But things like Enhancement Cores, too many trips to planets and Tower for Forges, etc, are all problems that affect only some, but affect us all when 90% of our friends refuse to launch Destiny period and the pool is so small it’s a second job just to find people skilled enough for each activity. Do what you should already: Remove Enhancement Cores for the 60% it bothers, and the 40% it doesn’t but can’t stand hearing about them anymore. Use Last Word as a communication, to explain its value in Crucible, so if people don’t like Crucible they don’t need it cause it’s not made for PVE (don’t need it if you can’t play PVP enough for it). Etc etc. Other companies already do these things. I think what needs to be changed is called “compromise” and actually acknowledging feedback and making people understand why something isn’t being changed is called “communication”. Seems to work for most companies, try it. Edit #2: Anthem has nothing to do with this. If EA can kill Sims Online (2004ish) when at it’s time was the most addictive, multiplayer based, game on the internet and they can kill battlefront when riding on a brand name like STAR WARS. I doubt Anthem will be good till I see it. The comment was meant to show people that evidence proves Destiny is dying regardless of other games on the market. Edit #3: I don’t care about past posts claiming the game was about to be dead because that was author’s opinions and predictions. This is different. This post GIVES YOU simple math to prove its validity. Edit #4: Let me answer before you comment on how the word “Facebook” and the numbers I referenced mean nothing: Destiny is advertised on mainly social media (if not all of its ads). 100% of ads are replied to with 99% (clearly an exaggeration not a claimed fact, calm down) hate makes the ad not convince anyone to buy the product. If you saw for example, a hammer for sale, but thousands of comments saying the hammer never once did its function properly or is way too overpriced (its perceived value), you wouldn’t buy it. As for the numbers, I have checked player statistics since the day Destiny 2 was out. There’s serious trend issues proving that even something as amazing as Forsaken is hopeless for Bungie in terms on engagement. Stop arguing that today’s Destiny Tracker numbers mean nothing when it’s actually over a year of numbers I am concerning. If you are coming at me toxic expect it back. If you can’t communicate look at the others I am being nice to and learn. Liking this does not necessarily mean you agree with the edited section. I played since D1 beta D1 had it problems but nothing like D2 A whole clan of 74 ppl gave it up a week after curse is osiris to come back at forsaken. Now after black armory and TLW trickle feed we are done again milestones are useless. Anthem a killer no its will be fun for awhile because it's new unless they listen to there community. A majority of D2 players a never played D1 original guardians left or are taking a break. I love this game made alot of friends but when the ones in charge stop caring it done. Sorry but itll get worse before the year is out.

    • Anthem runs like shit on console, you thought 30fps was bad? Anthem runs at 20fps and at 440p on Xbox one and PS4. It won’t kill destiny

      • I always chuckle a bit when people call a game with over 400k-800k players daily a "dead" game. It's almost as if they have no idea what game population counts for top games actually are. For example: https://steamcharts.com/top Yes I know the Destiny numbers are for all platforms but still, that's over 100K+ players daily on each which is still higher than most "top played" games with some exceptions such as WoW, LoL, or Fortnite. but there's always a top 3 exceptions active at any one time. Destiny still has a large active playerbase. You want define a dead game? Look at games like Lawbreakers for example. That's what you define as a dead game.

        • I'm here to tell you that 888,000 players is still a shit load of players for any game. I hope one day I make a game that gets 1% of that audience daily. Real talk though. If Bungie keeps -blam!-ing up Destiny, Bioware will be happy to help Bungie kill Destiny.

                • I'm sure another game/s could come along and take much of Destiny's player base at some point. I just don't think it will be Anthem. Their end-game on launch consists of an open world patrol area and 3 strikes.

                  • Hang on, the maths bit, am I missing something? Let's say 880k players bought game and all DLC for £100 (many will have paid more) then that's £88m. Let's say all 750 bungie employees get a solid £50k p.a. then that's a payroll of £37.5m. D2 cost about a fiver outside of payroll costs let's be honest. It was already built years ago. Good profit?
£100 = 130USD
• Tl,dr No game will ever "kill Destiny" but as I said on another post, Bungie is doing an excellent job on making it easy for gamers to leave this game. Hell, Y1 Luke Smith did a great job with that in the first two months after the game was released. I guess Bungie finally got smart and told him go hide and be quiet, lol. Over all? It doesn't matter what game comes out, either you like it or you don't. End of story.

Anthem won’t kill it either. I think it is gonna have a very rough start. Destiny is gonna pick up this year though.

                    • The numbers for Destiny have been on the decline for a while. Piss poor management is the only thing to blame. I’m sure folks can sit and try to argue that it was Activisions fault blah, blah, blah. All I can say to that is, 3 years. 3 years Bungie and Activision worked on Destiny. For vanilla, all the problems were blamed on the shake up within Bungie and the reworking of the game. This was the “defense” most people spoke when pointing fingers at why it was the way it was. 2.5 years later and Destiny was in probably the most perfect version Bungie was able to deliver while making as much of their consumer base happy. The 2 arrived and Bungie made it appear as if they’d never stepped foot in the Destiny universe or it was as if they lost all their notes on years 1-3 of Destiny. When your end of year sales are down 60%, things aren’t good. When attendance is steadily dropping, things aren’t good. When a major game publisher backs out of a 10 year plan, things most certainly are not good. Anyone who still tries to defend Destiny 2 and Bungie is either just the biggest fanboy/girl out there or they seriously have 0 standards. Anthem, can’t kill Destiny, it’s not “competition” for them. It’s a totally different game. I only played the open beta over the weekend and I liked it. I didn’t run out to preorder it but I’ll probably buy it in the summer after it has come out and I get to see how the full release is going. Too early to tell but thanks to Bungie and Destiny 2 I have 0 interest in ever preordering any video games...like ever. The loot system, infusion system, mods and mod component materials need to be re-worked. NPCs like the Gunsmith need to revert back to how he operated and he needs to sell those guns and have testers on hand as before? Did Ghaul steal his notepad or contact list when he hit the city? Gunsmith can’t call his vendors up and be like, “dude, these guys need guns, send me some!” When will Xur be useful? The next dlc? Smh. Glass needles ToC Speeder Engine changers. SSL...not NF specific loot. Permanent factions, not part time bullshit then have them sit there the rest of the time with absolutely 0 use. They’re fixing the stupid clan changes, glad it only took them most of this game’s infancy to figure out how stupid their changes were in the first place. There’s a lot that needs to be done to this game to make it right with a majority of the consumer base. Whether Bungie is ready to eat crow and fix it I can’t say. With their piggy bank out of the picture they’re going to need all the cash they can to survive Destiny 2 if they and the fanboys hope to reach a Destiny 3, even more if they want it to sell to more than just 10-20% of the consumer base that bought and still like 2.

Destiny and anthem can coexist since destiny is first person. All you anthem fanboys should be worrying about the division 2 since that game can easily kill anthem and those 2 games actually cant coexist because they are identical other than one being present time vs future.

                    • I just visited Destiny Tracker and direct copied these numbers: 13.9M Tracked Players Total 698.8K Crucible Players Yesterday 883.4K PvE Players Yesterday If my math is right, the total of pvp+pve = 1,582.2K = 1.58M 1.58M out of 13.9M tracked players . If that is below 1M then I would start to believe this game is ending.

                        • You keep telling people to stick to facts and not opinions. Which seems odd, since the first line in your post, is based off your opinion and not facts. Now if Destiny tracker said the player base was at or around 100 to 1000 players, I would agree. But it's at 888,000 according to you. So in your Opinion, what would a healthy number of players be? Because imo, anything over 500,000 across 3 different platforms, seems healthy. Are they super awesome numbers? No, not really. But as others have also replied, I am not waiting an hour for the match made activities. So if I can continue to play the game, and or Bungie hasn't turned off the servers, you can't say it's a fact that the game is dead. That is simply, just your opinion. And imo, you are free to have that opinion, but the facts don't actually back up your opinion.
