1h and 30 min used to be the time limit back in the day but now they seem to be getting longer and sometimes drag out the plot too much whats your thought on it do you preffer the movies being long or medium long like 2h or so?

4 commentaires1 hour 30 minutes was not the limit, it was the average film time. But no I wouldn't say they're getting longer, seems more like people don't have the attention span to watch longer films any more.

1 commentaire<Avengers 4 needs to be like Matrix-long though.>

Im sorry. I cannot stand watching movies more than an 1h 40m But I can binge watch 62 hours of all seasons of breaking bad when I was sick.
-
Yeah Marathon man The long weekend Long kiss goodnight

I'm okay with a movie having multiple 2 hour-ish parts like Lord of the Rings, but I have a head time sitting down to watch a movie any longer than that. After that, I start to want something else.

No media should ever shoot for a certain length. It should solely be dependant upon what the story requires. Whether 5 minutes or 5 hours, a movie should simply be as long as it needs to. . . . Sheesh, I need to take my own advice. I always try to make every chapter the same length...

Not in a theater, but at home where I can pause it.

1 commentaireIf a movie hits 2 hours it better have an intermission, I need to pee.

If it’s good, I don’t care if it’s 3 hours.

Modifié par xxx : 12/10/2018 6:45:45 AMBack in the day? Back in the day? Holy cow, that was like a few years ago, lol. Man, movies used to have an intermission so you could go drain the demon, get more snacks & have a smoke break! An hour & a half is a TV show, lol. Edit: Green Twister, I am being cheeky. I hope you do not take this reply to your post the wrong way Hoss.

I don't think the time matters as long as it's a good movie. I find myself wishing that most movies that are good, and last and hour and a half, to have been longer. If the movie is bad, I don't care. I'm gonna watch it, because I paid to see it. Also, if you have problems watching three hour movies, either you have a short attention span, or you like to be productive.

I can’t sit through most movies, of any length. I take to shows far more often so I can stop and take a break every 20 minutes or so.
-
The longer the movie the better

2 commentairesLol, I’ll do you a solid. Watch the Lonesome Dove series. In order it’ll go Dead Man’s Walk, Comanche Moon, Lonesome Dove, Return to Lonesome Dove, and Streets of Laredo.....

You haven’t seen any of the original Supermans were you?
-
6 commentairesthere are hardly any good movies anymore anyways, who gives a shit about how long they are
-
I mean, I love a good epic film, like Gone With The Wind or 2001, but when the Transformers film are almost 3 hours long, then that's a problem. My longest film I've ever written isn't 2 hours long.
-
1h and 30 is fine for comedies, but other genres should be 2hrs plus in my opinion
-
It depends. I don't like comedies that have run times over an hour and a half. If the movie is good (which is subjective for everyone) then I don't care. If it was bad it feels like wasted time I can't get back
-
Hmmm haven’t watched movies in like 3 years.
-
There is nothing wrong with movie run time nowadays and literally nobody is complaining about that. As a matter of fact, I think movies should be longer instead of being gutted and re-shot to make them shorter. Good movies are going to feel like 30 minutes long whereas shit movies are going to be the ones that drag on and feel like they won't end. That's part of the beauty of film making. Movies like The Empire Strikes Back and most recently Infinity War feel like 15 minutes just went by whenever I watch them.

1 commentaireModifié par Partisan : 12/9/2018 3:02:32 AMIdk, if the movie's good, then it's good. Ben-Hur's (1959) runtime is 212 minutes. Lawrence of Arabia (1962) is 222. LotR Extended Edition with Commentary (????) is like 32 years, nobody has even finished watching it yet. Some movie buff is gonna get mad at me for putting LotR in the same context as Ben-Hur, but whatever fite me irl Granted, not every movie is Lawrence, but let the director make the movie they want and we can decide if it sucks or not. You can definitely drag out a plot trying to fill time, or you can figure out how to tell a deeper story (tbf a lot of movies probably do the first thing). I don't have a problem with longer runtimes, if anything it helps me justify taking the time to go to the movies. Which I admit I don't do often, so what do I know lol.
