I see alot of people saying you can't judge my play style by my K/D. This statement confuses me because that shows your efficiency in winning battles against opponents. If you die alot then your hindering your whole team regardless of the game type. Even a 1 for 1 trade doesn't help you team unless it's certain objective type. So is it people defending their poor playing style or just salty they can't play as well as others. Just curious to everyone's thoughts. I think kill death shows your ability to win fights and play smart. Every player alive is helping the objective way more no matter what it is.
*Great responses from all, always nice to see things from a different perspective. This is what a good discussion topic should look like.

It's a game and therefore meant to be enjoyed. Stressing over K/D takes the fun out of it. Besides, it wouldn't be fun to not get wrecked every so often. I like trying to find that one guy who keeps killing me and getting that payback medal.

4 commentairesPlayer A has a 1.5 K/D, and player B has a 0.9 K/D. Everyone thinks player A is better. However, let's pretend the track record KD is: A) 0.5, 3, 0.5, 3, 0.5, 3... B) 0.9, 0.9, 0.9, 0.9.... If player B is playing Control and plays the zones, he's more likely to win. If Player A plays Clash, can you rely on him? K/D is only important if it's consistent. I can win several games in a row, but I also watch my K/D in those games fluctuate, 4, 0.3, 1.3, 1.1... I average a 1.2 KD apparently, now, I don't know my W/L ratio and I'll try and get that for you, but when I judge a player, it's not on his KD, it's on his willingness to play with the team and be a team player. 6 single minded players with a 1.5 KD will lose to 6 team minded people of 0.9 KD in any objective based game mode. Between chaining supers to moving in packs, the 1.5 KD people won't know how to counter a team ethic, because hey lack it, they play clash in control, and lose their games to the people who play control in control.

4 commentairesIt definitely matters. If it was as easy as "hardscoping at the back of the map" to get a better one, then everyone would easily raise theirs. Chances are someone over a 1.2+ will be way better than the average player. Someone over a 1.7 will mop the floor with pretty much everyone besides other players at that level. Don't think that's a coincidence.

Well for people like me, I use crucibal as a way to mess arround. I like to use fun weapons like NLB Kvostov ect. So my K/d is a mix of me being bad with fun weapons and actually trying at times. I mainly use nlb, and usually get around 1.0ish k/d, with the occasional Below 1.0 o_o. But in the end I don't care about your K/d if its bad I won't know, if its good I won't know because I don't look at everyone's k/d to judge them. Just play crucibal for fun, whether that's running with Universal remote, or sniping people with NLB. Win or lose you still get "rewards".
Trials is where I think you should care about KD, since its more competitive.
K.d doesn't really matter in this game because pvp is an inconsistent piece of trash that allows people to survive where they should have died or abilities don't register or work causing you to die etc. When you unload on a person that is glitched walking into a wall and next minute they kill you from behind and run off. That's 1 death added to your k.d that no amount of skill could save you from, after awhile it adds up.

If a player has KD of 1.5 but only wins 40% of matches then he/she is not good IMO. There are so many underlying stats to determine what a good or needed player is. I see too often in control matches where a couple players get 25 kills and 20 deaths. Yeah they got 25 kills but those 20 death are at least 2000 points each to the other team. In team matches it's not only about how many kills or KD one player gets. Its about playing smart. Know your maps and be aware where your team is. Its easier to win when you team shot; deny kills; control the map/spawn; know when to run away; communicate. The worst excuse for poor stats is "I play with randoms." Who the -blam!- doesn't? A foolish player does the same thing over and over again and expecting a different results. Since the April update I've started playing a lot more PvP. I learned to constantly change or adapt my gameplay to help benefit my team. In the past 3-4 months I've averaged 1.4 KD and 56% wins. At the beginning of April my KD was 1.0 and wins were 48%.

Kd is just really skewed in this game. The connection of a particular game plays too big a roll in it. It's getting better, but still has a long ass way to go.
-
Kd this, kd that, bungie nerfs subclasses because particular class has a high overall kd. Some say it matters and some say it doesnt. Kd matters to bungie Kd matters to some people and doesnt matter to others. Everyone has an opinion. Though I have noticed that having a player with 1.5kd overall on my team performs better than a player with 0.8kd overall. Consistency is the word.
-
K/D is very subjective. Sure you can sit in the back all game with a sniper and scout rifle, or you can get in the thick of things and push the objective or control the flow of the game. I maintain a roughly 1.6 kd as a warlock (wife plays the other 2 characters) going balls deep, taking the objective and setting the pacing for engagements, thus controlling the match and winning more often than not. Idk how, but I usually have both the most kills and deaths in my games (in control at least) and keep a 1.6 kd.

Modifié par StrongSide : 8/1/2016 9:11:34 PMReally depends. In my case it doesn't matter because I quit playing for quite some time. I hop on and play pvp occasionally. Though my kd has been steadily decreasing so I'm sure in time it will be a much better representation of my current skill. Y1 I was a top 1% player and went flawless every week with all 3 characters usually a bit over 2.0 kd.

They are just bad and my safe space.
-
Not important. Just play..

3 commentairesI'm not a PvP player, so is my PvE KD important when it comes to finding raid groups?
-
1 commentaireBecause I'm way better than I was in year one, but my kd makes me seem below average. That's why I made a Titan, and his kd is rising

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/210195425/0/0/1 There's another example of why kd is an inaccurate stat.
-
Because it doesn't, it's just a game, get a life.
-
Having high kd and win ratio means you are consistent, some peopleget 0.5kd in one game and then 2.5kd the next game but I have seen many people who had around 1.3-1.7kd then deleted their characters one by one just to make new ones and then went to spawn kill in rift with a team of 6, just to get that overall 2kd+. I have never deleted a single character nor will, just to boost kd, whenever those boosters play 3s against good players they tend to get wrecked, that's why they tend to stay in 6s ^_^ I enjoy playing 3s but as my friendlist has increased I have had to play 6s a lil bit more. But 3s are what I love <3 and what I have played most in destiny. Wastedondestiny.com for anyone who wants to see how many characters or hours someone has deleted ♡

ppl act like k/d is the sole thing the determines whether or not ppl can have any sort of say so or criticism in crucible. K/d certainly does matter but lots of ppl with good arguments get dismissed by ppl who can only counter with looking up ppl's k/d and saying something like I'm good and you're not so my opinion is valid while yours isn't.
-
Because its a game, not a way of life. muh ratio doesnt matter at all.
-
The only kd that matters is trials kd. Only gamemode where u sweat every game. I play some sweats and whatnot / havent always been good so I sit around a 1.4. if I made a new acc I'd be abt a 1.7 overall and 2.0 in trials. KD only matters sometimes

8 commentairesBecause kd is stupid
-
considering most of the "look how many kills i got in this round" videos i have seen, most of them were do to lag advantage and or not playing objective in an objective based mode. some people, though, were legit good. but they are far and few between. so i don't see how k/d could really mean much if anything in this game.
-
Playing the objective and getting assists are just as important of stats.
-
It doesn't matter, unless some weirdo wants to look at your stats to dictate whether playing with you would be a good idea or not.
-
I always felt K/d mattered less in Destiny due: 1) to the variety of abilities you can be killed by and 2) the different metas/OP weapons/nerfs/buffs/glitches/red bars/etc.

Because a large portion of the world doesn't have access to clean water?
