What's OffTopic's thoughts on "Gold Diggers"?
A friend of mine - a 24 year old woman with a kid, just married a 52 year old man. It brought her from a 1-bedroom apartment in a shitty area and into a mansion in a very wealthy area. She no longer works and spends most of the day lounging by a pool.
What is OffTopic's thoughts on "gold diggers"? Acceptable, or wrong?

Now, I ain't saying she a gold digger, but she ain't messing with no broke -blam!-! Holla we want pre-nup, we want pre-nup! Aside from this fantastic song, my thoughts are that life is hustle, and you have to get yours one way or the other. Also, as someone who's experienced this before, it's pretty damn easy to tell when someone is talking to you because you're wealthy. Ever consider the fact that these old rich guys are just trying to get some young pussy? I'd be damned if I was not married and not porking 20-somethings when I'm 60. What kind of psychopath goes after women over 30?

Neither. My policy is just don't be hypocritical about it. If she's willing to chase men for superficial reasons I don't wanna hear her complain about being pursued just for her looks or whatever.

I don't like gold diggers at all. No matter how old I am or how old she is, I want someone who loves me and my personality. Not someone who loves my money or possessions.

I'm sure a lot of young males who post here would happily let a 40-50 year old loaded woman give them a wealthy home and take care of them in exchange for sex/mild chores. It's like living with their mom like most currently are.

Anyone who'd be willing to offer their companionship for monetary benefit is no more acceptable or wrong then someone who'd be willing to offer up their money for said companionship. Love isn't the only reason people get married in the real world.

6 commentairesNo one outside knows the relationship they have. On the surface that sounds like she's using him and his finances to live in extreme comfort. BUT maybe he is ok with that. Either way I'm not one to favor extreme age relationships. They do not live in the same set of life circumstances or knowledge. It isn't impossible for it to work, but it just seems inappropriate to me. I'll leave it at as something that I would not pursue.

As long as the answers from both people are "yes and no" respectively, then I don't see the issue. Two grown adults making their own choices as to what they desire from life and how they choose to live their lives. All without harming anyone else. Hell, the individual in the situation who has the most needs is her child. And she is doing something that helps to provide for him, see that he is well fed, well cared for, and is in a safe and healthy environment. Seems to me that their situation is basically none of my concern. I don't expect or appreciate others who don't know me making judgements about me and how I choose to live my life. I am willing to extend the courtesy of not judging others and would be happy if others were to return that courtesy to me.

They're both adults, and the old dude probably understands the risks but doesn't seem to be bothered so it's fine.
