Why you should play as Defender in Iron Banner.. Actually more
So I gave Universal Remote, No Backup Plans combo a try for trials last weekend on Black Shield. Went flawless. Cool. But how good would it work in 6v6 gamemodes? Well I tried it on iron banner. I made sure I specced my class into Force Barrier, Intellect Strength, Ward of dawn coolsdown quicker, and suppression grenades to shutdown enemy supers. I use weapons of light to one shot people with my LDR, you know, the guys who try to snipe my bubble and get me when I come out. Doesn't work. All I have to do is peek out and body shot you. Don't try it m80. You don't even need illuminated to one shot people. Just grab your weapons, then rush them with your sniper / Remote. It's amazing.
How well did this work? I mean.. Bungo did show us that defenders have the lowest KD at around 0.85.
It worked too well. I hope Bungie doesn't touch the defender class. It doesn't need any tuning whatsoever. Just know how to use it.
I consistently got 1.25+ kds with it even if we lost and got so many kills since I was constantly rushing with Remote. If you kill an enemy to activate force barrier, you can literally tank other people's bullets like you have a whole new healthbar. Oh. It freaking starts regenerating under a second too. If you think I'm just bragging, watch this clip. Anyone can do this. To be honest I'm meh at crucible as you can see from this clip but anyone can manage to do good with this setup.

Note that in the clip I already got one kill right before it started, and also I didn't know that last guy was an enemy. I thought for sure after killing four of them, the one other enemy alive would be somewhere else. I noticed thankfully though lol I'm an idiot.

3 commentairesIts much better in obj modes like rift. I wear Saint-14 and put it near their spawn and stay behind it, that way they'll be blind when they get to me or they have to find another way around. I learned very quickly that the biggest mistake you can make with defender is actually standing in the bubble. That's just asking for a FoH.

I've been using zen meteor weapons of light and armormenturium so I can shut down those supers and body shot snipe with a full fireteam it works great we win every time

Yes! Also, with low discipline, use suppressor at beginning of match. Then save them when you start hearing supers. Be a hero.

I use the same setup but use Lord of Wolves. Can't beat that gun close range and the range is a lot more than its rating.

After they buffed Backup Plans for Y2, it's beast mode all day. The real game is to see how long you can have Force Barrier active in a match. The answer: indefinitely.

4 commentairesI.....disagree. It worked for me, for two games. However as I continued to play, the loadout and playstyle became more and exposed. This could have been due to the poor connectivity IB is suffering through right now, I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. But it's also the bubble itself, if you come out of it, you better win those engagements so that you can pass through it again and tether those benefits. But the other problem is, It's not indestructible. Look, when it clearly reads in the description, indestructible, I expect it to be just that. But the truth is everything takes it out. Players should be giving Defender bubbles a wide berth, but instead they would come in and actually win hand to hand engagements while I'm punching the crap out of them in my bubble. That,,should...never..happen..under any circumstances. So while these may be rare occurrences, or mistakes on my part using the loadout effectively. I still feel based on yesterdays evidence, that Defender needs a massive buff. It's a support class that should shine in six's, and yet that is where it's weakest.

14 commentairesThe only change I want to see for Defenders is that their Super can kill people upon activation. That's it. Sure the buffs are great and all but hurling the enemies inside the expanding radius out violently would be hilarious and effective. I don't think it would make it overpowered, I think it would make it able to be slightly more offensive. It is after all the only Super you can't get a direct kill with.
