Chroma "Pro Tip" - Edited
[spoiler]Pro Tip: If you get a piece of Chroma Gear from a Rank-up Package, change the Chroma Color Node to whatever one you want before dismantling it. You'll get that Chroma from dismantling. :)[/spoiler]
Final Edit: Turns out I was wrong? Results may vary, and I guess you only get the Chroma from the Sterling Treasure Gear when dismantled. Still, it doesn't require you to have an Active Chroma on that gear to get one back. I had assumed that it was ALL Chroma Gear, but I had only tested it on ~10 pieces of Sterling Treasure Gear. That was on Me.
I also assumed that you would get the Chroma that was rolled on the Gear, but THAT assumption was justified, in my opinion. All the gear that I dismantled, I had rolled for yellow or white, and when I dismantled, I got That Chroma 10/10 times. This seems to Not be the case with many other people, and may just have been an insane run of luck.
In short: I apologize for any misinformation provided to the general public, and I wish you all luck on getting the Chromas you want/need if you decide to dismantle Sterling Box Gear like I did.

From experience only the gear from the Sterling Boxes will ever give you Chroma back. Spektar gives you one at random while a Desolate gear guarantees you a white one. No it's completely random and doesn't seem to be affected by whether or not if their chroma slot is used or not.

You can get chroma from dismantling!? Yay! I may be able to get my red chroma back! Pro tip: When infusing chroma gear, be patient. You may accidently remove your chroma. :(

Chrome Gear that comes out of Vendor Packages (Rank-up rewards with Factions), that gear should not award Chroma when dismantled. To my knowledge, only Chroma gear you obtain from a Sterling box will award Chroma.

2 commentairesi like how bungie said you get chroma from chroma gear when you dismantle it. i've broken down 3 dead orbit, 2 crucible, and 5 vanguard since the update and i haven't gotten a single piece of chroma from any of it. only armor materials and legendary marks.

All of the chroma gear I've dismantled hasn't given me any chroma.
