Modifié par Sora Orth : 12/14/2015 12:08:00 AMIn Pay to play games: as much as it doesn't sit right with me, there are far worse ways of trying to make more money from a game then cosmetics. Even though they should be unlockable, cosmetics are the best way to go by making extra money. With the price of making games going up and the cost to buy games not, I understand wanting to make more money. If you put purely cosmetic items, sure, if I enjoy playing il buy them probably, especially if they find extra content. In F2P games: I don't have a problem with cosmetics in F2P games. Since would just be repeating myself, so like I stated earlier, there are far worse ways of grinding money out of a game the cosmetics. I have put possibly 50-80 bucks into TF2, and I also have over 500 hours into it, so I haven't minded. Tl;dr: cosmetics arnt bad, there's worse ways of going by making money

5 commentairesThat's content that could have been unlockable through progression or otherwise, but was set aside to be sold in addition to the price of the game itself. As far as I'm concerned, microtransactions of any kind have no place in a non free-to-play game.

Modifié par I Am Legend1465 : 12/13/2015 10:26:51 PMI wouldn't buy them myself, but I think they're ok, because they don't give you a distinct advantage, over other players, just makes things look cool, I have an example of how this got screwed up royally, advanced warfare, sledgehammer and Activision sold micro-transactions for that game, but instead of making them just for show, they gave the paying players a distinct advantage over the other players, they fixed this in BO3 which is a way better game imo too

1 commentaireStrictly cosmetic microtransactions are amazing, especially if the gear can't be earned in-game. They allow you to instantly tell who the -blam!-boys are.
-
No, Only Free to play games should have Micro transactions. Remember completing a game and it unlocked a costume or something else it was cool, now there's no mystery in games anymore for example time trials in Mario kart unlocked new vehicles, completing mini games in RE4 or doing certain things in GoldenEye unlocked other cool things. Point is doing those things added to the experience of playing the game. Now it's just a way to swindle more money out of gamers.
-
no everyone will look cooler than you if you dont want to pay
-
Only if the game doesn't have an otherwise unobtainable currency. Halo 5 and GTA V have acceptable micro transactions.
-
It's not a bad thing as long as that's all it is
-
I'm actually cool with micro transactions to begin with...
-
Why not put money into a game that you hop onto almost everyday. I'm just ever so thankful that I'm an adult with a good paying job so that I can always look forward and participate in newest events, festivals, and dlc.
-
I liked it better back in the old days where you could unlock cosmetics through playing the game instead of paying the game
-
Modifié par Reign of Bane : 12/13/2015 1:37:13 AMAre any micro-transactions okay? No. Are in game items that are un-lockable with normal game play okay? Yes.
-
If we're talking about the cosmetic microtransactions (like those in Destiny) such as emotes and sparrow horns, then those are fine. But if you mean how your character looks (armor, clothing, etc.) then absolutely no.
-
Only if it's a free game
-
Something like destiny I wouldn't buy silver but in ESO I buy crowns
-
2 commentairesModifié par Sapid : 12/11/2015 2:10:06 PMNo. Free to play game? Yes. So I picked yes, only because it's acceptable in some cases. For Destiny, it's bad. But I'll support Smite with gems way more then I'll buy silver. The Halloween masks did get me to purchase some silver but I regret that decision because it hasn't gone towards content I enjoy.
-
It's fine because it's up to you if you want to buy it
-
As long as the game is free or an mmo
-
As long as there are in game ways to earn them.
-
Yes and no. I'm ok that the stuff technically doesn't affect gameplay, but on the other hand that's horseshit. We're paying for clothes, dances, weapon skins(etc..) That stuff used to be part of the video game as a way to show players who were skilled at getting headshots or completed a specific challenge. It wouldn't be so bad if the norm wasn't incomplete or broken games these last few years.
-
Modifié par Eirikur : 12/12/2015 2:08:14 PMNot really. I mean, if the company NEED microtransactions in their game, sure, then cosmetic ones are fine. But I'd rather just have everything accessible if I bought the game. There really shouldn't be a paywall for stuff in a game you've already paid for.
-
Reminds me of warframe
-
If there is some other way of obtaining them besides money, yes
-
If people are stupid enough to buy it, then that's their own fault
