The main reason what drove people to abuse it in the crucible is the absolute imbalance between subclasses.
And how IB was broken before this glitch was found due to the fact bungie doesn't want to change anything between them.
I know they are supers unique to each class so they are supposed to be different, but to the actual point of there being such an massive scale of difference that the others because massively OP compared to others?
(I main a hunter, not used the glitch, can generally hold my own in the crucible, not really to arsed about SC/SB anymore because I've started to adapt to the supers) but even Friends I have that main locks and Titans agree and have a lot of valid points to why they are so much more OP compared to nightstalker.
So that's probably why you find people abusing it now because they must feel that it's the only way they can feel balanced

That makes sense...but tethers already shut down all active supers. Get caught in the net and watch the opposing player panic now that they can't one shot you anymore. The wall proximity-activated perk on Nightstalker is an interesting dynamic because if you hear the hammer, just plant it and bait the Titan into it. Really cool stuff.

I get that a well placed shadow shot can be very powerful. But I've witnessed it happen and I've had it happen to myself. When you see a SB/SC/BD etc ( any super that allows excessive movement pretty much) you can hit them dead on and they just don't get suppressed and continue on with the super mainly resulting In your death. So if any super that has an overshield(so the shadow shot doesn't 1 hit) gets hit directly they basically just shrug it off and continue. Even if you place it infront of them sometimes it's just like the tether can't even be arsed procing because they are moving to fast or some shit and just lets them be. It is a weird one because sometimes it works amazing but them other times (abit more often then not) it just gets frustrating to watch someone run through your tether and not get suppressed.
