So like, I'm just being a titan. Just strolling along my merry way in some crucible. And I come across a Warlock in the wild. Well, I don't wanna die so I jump over him because I see his shotty.
And then it happened...
He bunny hopped into his super to try and Landfall me due to his shiny new exotic gloves. And you know what? It killed me despite me being sky high above him.
So, mind explaining this to me? How is it that Landfall kills people above the Warlock? I'm a bit confused as to how this works since it's name and description offer zero indication that it should affect anyone above the Warlock.
Edit: Omg I didn't think I'd have to spell it out for you guys but I suppose I should have seen this coming. You all (or at least a vast majority of you all) have missed the entire point of this post. I am NOT upset about dying to Landfall. I am NOT upset about Warlocks or Stormtrance or anything of the sort. I am simply confused as to why a perk titled "Landfall" that is described as "On casting Stormtrance, fire a bolt of lightning into the ground, creating a devastating shockwave under you" is able to kill things above as well. It's even in the name, Landfall. It's not like the perk was titled something to give any sort of hint of affecting the area above you such as "Skyrise" (crappy name I know, deal with it).
Edit 2: To those trying to argue with the shallow response of "Tell me why FoH kills me when I'm 30 meters above it then" the answer is in its description. "Smash the ground and dissolve nearby enemies in a maelstrom of Arc Light". For those who don't know what a maelstrom is it is a powerful whirlpool with a strong downdraft that pulls nearby things into it. Going off of that it's not that you are dying to its aoe or even a shockwave above, it's that FoH is literally sucking you into its center and killing you that way. Of course, that would probably be a bitch for them to have added in the needed effects for that so they just shorthanded it and opted for killing anything in range immediately.
Edit 2a: Not to mention, if you could survive FoH by jumping it would only be further solidified as the worst super in the game. And it already is so let's not try to make it any worse.
Edit 3: In case you somehow missed the point of this post (despite Edit 1) I'm going to reiterate. I am not upset about the Warlock, nor Stormtrance, nor Landfall. I have only died that one time to Landfall and 1 whole death is not going to warrant a complaint post. This is a simple question that requires a simple answer. One that I have found now thanks to users shobr0 and one other unnamed person (sorry, your post seems to have drowned in the sea of trolls) who have explained that in the lore it states that Warlocks are unable to channel the lightning themselves but rather, that they can call upon it at anytime and get charged by mother nature to then use as needed. So, that explains it, my question is answered and this post can go ahead and die now. Still, kinda dumb that something that should (probably) be for cool points actually kills but whatever, that's Bungie for you. Always out to show how much more loved Warlocks are than the other classes.

Dude..... Space magic
-
Because lightning strikes from the sky...
-
Interesting, had no idea that landfall has a vertical AOE. Hmmm.... Was said warlock directly below you when casting stormtrance? Maybe the bolt being cast down struck you directly. I do know this about striker Titans and their FOH, it also has a vertical AOE, that can also kill you if you're seemingly above its impact.
-
4 commentairesI can't explain it but all I can say is that if a warlock wants to try to landfall I'll give them a shiny hammer ;) #HammerTime.
-
Damn that's a lot o text, and the reason u get killed by FoH when above is cus you're a lightning bolt, ever seen FoH activate over a big arch or something, there's a huge lightning bolt
-
I'm not going to be an asshole. It's dumb, and I main a warlock. Nothing should damage you if you are above an activation, plain and simple. I use it because it works, but I don't get why. It even alters the animation to shoot specifically down. Ehhhh.
-
Cuz video game logic.
-
It's probably because Stormcallers bring down a bolt of Arc lightning to strike the area around them. Landfall would still kill you regardless if you were airborne. You should have thought that through.
-
FoH all over again....
-
We dealt with FoH killing us when we were up to 10 feet above you. Get used to it.
-
Well, it's a lightning bolt. Lightning bolts come down from the sky. Anything above said warlock will get rekt

Modifié par XxGunknightxX : 10/2/2015 11:33:31 PMWeird... I wonder what other supers can do something like that... I wonder what that is!
Edit 2a: Not to mention, if you could survive FoH by jumping it would only be further solidified as the worst super in the game. And it already is so let's not try to make it any worse.
I was just thinking how useless FoH is. Cant remember how often I've been frustrated by that damn corner rounding, wall-piercing "Panic Bubble" Those defenders plague crucible with day in day out...
-
Lol at titan panic fister wondering how in the world a ground pound super kills you at full jump height... IVE BEEN WONDERING THE SAME FÜCKING THING!
-
6 commentairesSo you dont think a sky high AOE is unfair?......sounds familiar huh striker titan
-
1 commentaireSame happens with fist of panic to anyone in the air when you smash the ground
-
It's like Titan smash, the animation hits the ground but you die if your sky high as well
-
Modifié par C1everMoniker : 10/2/2015 11:20:58 PMYou DO realize lightning comes from the sky, right? In all seriousness, I'm not really sure what the AoE is supposed to be but it feels fairly similar to the FoH
-
It's a large lightning bolt that falls from the sky so it hit you befor it touched the ground.
-
FoH killed enemies that were way too far away to get hit
-
Mini fist of havoc I guess.
-
Lightning running through our body... big metal armored titan... hmmmm I wonder.
-
Mini fist of havoc I guess.
-
For those saying "it's lightning, it comes from the sky" the perks says: "fires a bolt of lightning" as if from the warlock. I agree with OP that is weird.
-
Summons the lighting above him/herself then fires it downward
