Hey there, Community.
At Bungie, we’re committed to making our website a safe, well-lit place for the community. As the engaged innkeepers of Bungie.net, we’ve learned that accountability is a great ingredient in the recipe for a healthy community. When a user has some personal investment associated with their account, they’re more likely to take pride in the way they communicate with other people.
Since its inception and throughout various evolutions, Bungie.net has served a community that shares a game. The game (Destiny, for example) is the thing we all have in common – the unifying element that brings us together in the first place. In order to ensure that the end-users who are accessing the public forums on Bungie.net have a greater interest in the quality of the conversation, we’re going to require that each account be linked to a Guardian with some player history. At current, that includes more than 99% of our active community.
Bungie.net accounts are free, easy to make, and easy to link to your playable character. Your access to the public forums is tied to your Guardian, but your account can still be used to enjoy many of the free social features that we provide. If you’re not playing Destiny, you’ll still have access to Private Groups.
If you’re a new user who is seeking support from us on the #Help forum, you can find some instructions on how to create and link an account here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12130
If you need assistance with creating your account, let us know here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13633
It is our hope that you’ll enjoy a long stay in our online home. Throw down some roots. Make some friends. Play some games. Be excellent to each other.
DeeJ, out.

1 commentaireDeej. If you're going to take all the offtopic members off of the forums, at least change it from bungie.net to destiny.com and then ban everyone who hasn't ever played it. So we know you're going to really leave the community behind. Sincerely, fuck yourself

1 commentaire-blam!- you, Deej. You and me both know this is complete utter horse shit.
-
1 commentaireCool, Bungie banned me to silence my criticism. You can silence me, but you can't silence everyone who feels the same as I do Bungie. Go to hell.

1 commentaireI would argue things have been on a steady downhill spiral ever since Bungie blocked comments on Weekly Updates. Yet at the same time I also think the real root of these problems go back to the introduction of Bungie.next or the release of Destiny. I think its good Bungie wants to tackle this problem, but this is practically the worst way to get rid of alts. It's as if Bungie recognizes that the root of the problem is a floppy CoC, crappy "self-moderation", and a lack of incentives to behave, but they just ignore all that and goes with this instead. I don't know. It just feels like Bungie is trying to get its old community to leave; and that if you aren't buying into Activision's marketing schemes, you aren't welcome. I hope this isn't their intention, but I can no longer tell what Bungie would do anymore, because this is a very different Bungie than it was two years ago.

Here's my "last word".

Is this the part where I should be "throwing money at my screen?" It's sad to see what you've become Bungie

1 commentaireA healthy community could also be held by actually giving mods their powers back, and having a keep it clean policy like the old days. Instead, you're deciding to tell everyone who criticizes destiny to -blam!- off because it hurts your feelings? So now you're telling those of us who have been around for years, some of us for almost a decade, and many dedicated Bungie fans during the Halo years to buy a game we don't want or you can't post here anymore? You guys made sure the offtopic went to ruin when you essentially took away all of the mods powers, you killed off just about every old member when you went to Bungie next, and you've successfully killed off every small private community on your own website. I can't say I'm surprised, it's gotten objectively worse every year since you guys revamped the website, I knew the glory days from '07-'10 were going to end, I knew activity like that couldn't last forever, but of what's left it's definitely over. I guess it's a better business decision to get rid of all of your mods and make people buy the game to post.

3 commentairesSo, what's with the un-pin? I can only imagine two things a professional company would do next: A) You are preparing to respond to our valid complaints right now B) You are going to re-pin the thread because you are still reading our feedback and un-pinning it was an innocent misclick Any other choice then this, like choosing to just ignore us, is obviously too ridiculous for consideration right?

You are literally saying that if we don't buy your game we're banned from the public forums. You're literally saying that we need to drop cash just to have access to this place as we've had for YEARS before. Be straight with me. Who is the retard that comes up with these policy changes? I remember when people would be on Bungie.net and hadn't even played Halo but were still part of the family. I remember when ninjas were the authority on the forums and were praised and feared by all, not paper weights and basically only kept around as antiquities of the past. Give mods their status and power back and let them deal with alts or no-good doers. You've made it easier than ever for users to report and mute other users for whatever reasons. PUT TRUST AND FAITH IN YOUR GOD DAMN NINJAS AGAIN AND LET THEM DO THEIR JOBS. There is no need for shit policies that seem more of a way to attack the remaining veteran community and anyone that doesn't support or follow Destiny. Want a solution to not having people who don't play Destiny in #Destiny? DON'T LET PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T PLAYED DESTINY IN THAT FORUM OR IN # Help. Amazing, right? All i did was use logic for one second unlike you guys have. You guys are doing great with Destiny after TTK but on the other hand are immensely dropping the ball with dealing with the community side of it all on the website, more so in the last two years then all the years I've been here. This isn't the first time there has been an outcry by the general population and that should tell you you're doing things wrong. If you really do love your community so much as you say, then -blam!-ing listen to it.

1 commentaireShould just make it so you need a gaurdian for #destiny Not #gaming But there will be less hate bandwagons

I play destiny regularly I have also played every halo game but I only recently started to come on to these forums but answer me this how will blocking non destiny players improve the community/forum discussion, surely more voices make for better discussions in this sort of context. Also of this section of the community makes up less than 1 percent then how are they lowering the tone of the forums so to speak statistically speaking most of us probably won't even see their posts?
-
Hey Deej, when are you going to get some competent mods instead of banning legit users from your website. From what I recall, some current mods like to leak personal data.
-
How do I make it to where other guardians can view mine? Apparently it says I've never played destiny

24 commentairesModifié par zbeshears : 10/1/2015 6:04:29 PMMan everyone is crying about this and saying its a bad move. Idk but I don't see t that way... Come on people bungie doesn't make halo anymore!!! If you halo people want a forum then go yell at 313 or whoever it is that makes it now lol They make one game now and that's destiny folks. Playing destiny requires a guardian, if you don't play destiny then you really shouldn't be here! Because all your opinions would be null.... Why does someone who doesn't even play the game need to be in he games forums??? Because they're bored? Because they have nothing better to do? That my friends is what breeds trolls and I for one say let them go elsewhere. This isn't a bad thing, a company can't focus on the past and halo is old news baby.... Gotta keep up with the times, so for all that are salty about it there are ten behind ou that don't care at all. And the ones who are being negative about it or the loud people anyways that would complain about most things that are not exactly what they see as a good idea. The people playing destiny are the ones keeping the lights on over their not the halo people, sure you guys paid the deposits a really long time ago but get over it. I mean really who posts in off topic anyhow.... There is this crazy thing called Reddit if you wanna post off topic stuff... See you later "vets"

8 commentairesHonest question for everyone who is upset about this news. If you're not interested in Destiny... if you've never played Destiny... then why would you post here? It's been 5 years since Bungie made Halo or any other game that isn't Destiny... so if Destiny is of no interest to you, why are you still here? Not trying to be argumentative. I'm genuinely curious. I've been a b-net user for close to 10 years now. I used to post here all the time back in the Halo 3-ODST-Reach days. Then Halo went to 343. So when I wanted to talk about Halo, I went to Waypoint. My interest in Halo has since weakened, so I stopped visiting Waypoint. I've made friends here, as well as at Waypoint, HBO, DBO, and a half dozen other sites over the years. But I don't continue to post on a forum if I have no interest in the very subject the forum is dedicated to. To me, all this negativity comes across as people just looking for reasons to be mad. I believe Deej when he says that over 99% of the active users already have Destiny accounts. And the remaining <1 percent... I say again: why do you post here? <3

19 commentairesModifié par A Beaten Leaf : 10/3/2015 1:40:41 PMGuys. Just download the demo, make a random Character, and keep your Bungie.net account. It may require some time to download it, but if you really want to keep your account, do it.
