If you read the update today, Deej mentioned that you will have to defeat Oryx to access the nightfall.
Assuming this means you have to beat the story missions, if you don't buy TTK you can't do those missions and now an endgame activity is being taken from you. Lol, taken.
I already pre-ordered so this won't affect me, but I can't help thinking this is kinda fkd up.
It's one thing to lock people out if they don't have the dlc for the strike being used for the nightfall on any particular week, but to completely remove this endgame activity from anyone who doesn't buy TTK seems a bit much.
Any thoughts guardians?
Edit: here is the exact quote from the update, right after it talks about the nightfall:
Did we mention that you’ll need to confront the immediate threat first? Oryx lies between you and these challenges. You'll need to survive his wrath to partake in the new endgame.
Edit 2:
Damn, that's a metric shit ton of comments, mostly constructive too. Nice job guardians!
Edit 3:
1100 comments? Holy shit snacks.
Edit 4:
It's official. If you want to reach level 40, you must have TTK. You also must be level 40 to run the nightfall. Nightfall is now officially 100% exclusive to TTK owners.

Yay im getting left behind!
until i upgrade to next gen and buy TTK for that
They have been screwing people on the nightfalls each dlc. They only have it be strikes from the new content.
-
This is amazing!

Modifié par Zephiasco : 9/13/2015 11:46:16 PMI'm a Destiny fan and I happily bought the DLC which will provide me with many many hours of entertainment. Money well spent I have no problem with Bungie taking this step with the with regards to Nightfall Strikes. If I were a pauper though, I might take issue.

Modifié par Quietdrive55 : 9/13/2015 11:30:37 PMWhy would anyone not buying the DLC decide to keep playing though? It would be useless. Anyone who doesn't care about this occurring probably bought the DLC so it doesn't have any effect on them (you and I for example). Anyone who does care about this occurring probably hasn't purchased the DLC, and if they liked the game they would have bought the DLC to keep playing. Hence, they will probably be playing other games and this has virtually no effect on them. I'm not saying Activision/Bungie is right by what they are doing, but this game is built on the future content you purchase. By not purchasing expansions you basically kill any fun you may have to begin with.

2 commentairesDestiny is pretty much subscription based by keeping up with dlc.
-
1 commentaireThey did the exact same thing with the dark below and house of wolves. You couldn't play those nightfall strikes without the dlc.
-
4 commentairesIt's the nature of the game. U need to buy the content to get the most out, like many other online (mmo like) multilayer games. Not many ppl still playing WoW vanilla is there?
-
This is super fkd up. It was already bad enough when omnigul and tankis showed up

5 commentairesActivision ruined the game of destiny

3 commentairesTaking away game modes is a cheap way to drive sales of DLC. Bungie used to be so well loved.
-
Defeat Oryx to unlock nightfalls...wut
-
First of all, the level 32 version of the nightfall doesn't exist anymore. It'll be level 40 and to hit 40 you need TTK, this is nothing new. The level cap on Nightfall was increased before with a DLC but the level was close enough that people could still join it. This time the cap increases high enough that it's obvious you wouldn't be able to run it.

16 commentairesModifié par Lovable Wookie : 9/13/2015 10:30:34 PMI think of The Taken King as a sequel. Bungie just being too lazy to actually make a new game :) For example, the title screen has changed to Destiny: The Taken King, all the year 1 weapons are obsolete, all year 1 armor is gone, and the update of course saying Destiny 2.0. I feel like they are pulling a Minecraft type system. Where they just update(create dlc actually) the game and it becomes a new thing. I don't know how to really explain it better than that. But it still is kinda fooked up to leave people behind :)
-
I really hope so We don't want to do year 1 strikes for the millionth time cause some people are too poor to buy TTK Why would you even play this game without the latest dlc?
-
3 commentairesCan someone without TTK level to 40? If not does it really matter if you label it as an exclusive?
-
20 commentairesGood. As far as I'm concerned, if you're not buying TTK, you shouldn't be getting 2.0 patch, and Destiny should not let you sign in. No new equipment, no rebuilt questlines, nothing. Pay or gtfo

Welcome to American Capatalism.

So $40 dollars must be a lot to you I'm assuming
-
That's fine people that don't buy ttk are obviously not serious destiny players and they should move on to another game the suits them.

4 commentairesWho cares

2 commentairesLol so glad I bought ttk :)

3 commentairesHonestly - I'm glad this is the case (If True) - don't need dickheads like you around.
