I think the Playstation exclusives are wrong.
Here's my thesis:
Exclusives within a video game (that do not exist as DLC) aren't okay. If everyone pays the same amount of money for a video game, everyone should get the same video game.
Provide me with a good counter argument as to why my argument and opinion aren't as good as yours.
Rule: This is all about opinions. Opinions, fundamentally, cannot be wrong.
So, imagine Walmart pays for an exclusive product. I want that product, but I regularly shop at Target. I can drive down to Walmart and buy that exclusive product.
However, say I play Playstation. I see that the Witcher 3 exclusive stuff is only on Xbox One. I want that stuff. I can't drive down to Xbox One and grab it. I have to pay 500 dollars so I can buy exclusive stuff. It doesn't make me want to switch, it makes me bitter at the gaming industries for thinking that this is okay and a good marketing strategy.
Nintendo does it all the time, and it nearly bit them in the butt. If, say Halo, is only on one console, 50% of gamers are going to have access to play it (let's skip PC here). It's going to be able to reach only 50% of a potential audience.
Did Playstation players pay more than Xbox players? No? Then, why should they be entitled to more stuff? This seems almost like internet age segregation, with one group of people being treated with priority over another, who have an equal right to priority. It almost seems... illegal, and immoral at the very least.
The only winners with exclusivity are the corporations. The developers don't win, and the gamers don't win.
This is my Ultimate Metaphor:
Say you play an RPG. Four classes: Ranger, Mage, Knight, Spoony Bard. You chose Mage. (Mage and Ranger equal Microsoft). You run a long side quest, like the Gauldr amulet in Skyrim. You get to the end and you get an awesome... sword, which only Paladin's and Bards (both Sony) can use. That sword is the exclusive content. You have it (Xbox editions have the content disclocked. That is a fact), but you can't use it. You could have used it, if, hundreds of hours ago you made a different choice, but you can't make that choice now. So, you'd be angry about that. Now imagine your time was money. You spent the same amount of money/time as Paladins and Bards, and you didn't get anything. You'd be mad in the game, and you'd call it robbery in real life.
That's what the exclusives are. A sword for paladins.

Immoral? Lol
-
Bungie can't do anything. THEY. SIGNED. A. CONTRACT.
-
If you want exclusives for everything buy both consoles. If you refuse to do that it is fine but you will be left without all of the exclusive content for all of the games that have it.
-
It is called consumer choice and it is something that we deal with everyday in all aspects our day to day lives. Different retailers sell the exact same products at different prices all the time and it is up to us where we buy them. If the platform that you choose to play on does not have all the features that you want, you have no one to blame but yourself.
-
2 commentairesSee one huge flaw with how you put things, A Sony exclusive will never be put into a Microsoft game and vise versa. As of right now you have no proof that any of the Sony exclusive content is disk locked at all. It's all hear say. It will be easy to add the Sony exclusive content through a patch that will give Xbox that stuff, but it is no where stated it's disk locked

We as consumers paid the same... Sony paid more than Microsoft. This isn't a case of special treatment it's business.

Learns how marketing/competition works... realizes forums have read this too many times and is op, waits for bungie to nerf.

I play on Xbox and I'm fine with it. Sony paid more.

I believe that your opinion is based in ignorance and is rather naive. Exclusives have existed for a long time and are very fair! Lets go ahead and generalize it! We have Product 0 that is being released on two seperate platforms, Platform A and Platform B! Platform A and Platform B begin to bid on rights to Product 0. Platform A begins to raise the price to a point where Platform B deems biddig on Product 0 a fruitless cause and decides to save money to bid on another product. Platform A wins the rights and exclusives to Product 0 Not long after this, Product 1 comes our and Platform A and B begin to bid. Platform B greatly out bid Platform A due to the fact that Platform B saved their money on Product 0. The exclusives sawy back and fourth between Playstation (Platform A) and Xbone (Platform B). Also, these exclusives are not even true exclusives, Xboners get the exclusives after a certain amount of time, thus the name "timed exclusives."

1 commentaireModifié par Flywheel : 7/27/2015 2:41:45 PMSony bought the exclusives on behalf of its gamers. They're *not* free. Microsoft elected not to spend the money. They were banking on Kinect separating themselves from the PS4. As a consumer, you decide which console to buy in part based on which manufacturer is willing to support the games you play like that. There is nothing immoral at all about that. You just have to be a sharp consumer and not a brand-name fanboy to avoid paying too much for lackluster services.
-
I'm an Xbox player, I could honestly care less. Seeing as bunglevizion approached Microsoft with an exclusivity deal first and all. We will get the exclusives eventually.
-
You are dumb. Simple economics escapes you. I repeat, you are dumb.

3 commentairesModifié par HennessyHeor : 7/27/2015 4:07:07 PMYou want to have Dust Palace as a NF that bad huh? lol. And I can honestly say I wouldn't be mad because it's a game and has no connection to my real life. Also, if i remember correctly, the PS exclusives were mentioned before the XBone and PS4 released so there was more than enough time to research and pick a console, just like your RPG analogy. Do a little bit of research before you start and you might have picked a bard or a paladin. And let's not forget the cross-platform games that Xbox had time exclusives for over PS (CoD mainly) and PS user were told to shut up cause they'd get them eventually. And this is coming from someone with both consoles so I can enjoy the exclusive content both have to offer (Gears, Halo, Uncharted). Also it's a business, Sony paid more so they got more. Besides...the exclusives aren't even that great.

I have 1 answer for you $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$€€€€€€€€
-
This again? Thought everything was said about this already, guess not. Exclusives are wrong in general yeah but we have to deal with it. Xbox gets Rise of the Tomb Raider a whole year before PS does so XB kind of lost every right to complain about this little stuff. That's a COMPLETE game not just - what two weapons or whatever?

15 commentairesI find this funny how Sony is trying their hardest to try to be the best console. This is why I stuck with Xbox: 1. Better internet connection 2. Better security protection 3. When hackers attack, PlayStation servers and network go down way before Microsoft 4. I can play a completely different game than my friends and still talk to them in a party chat 5. Better servers 6. Easier first time sign up than PlayStation Only thing I feel PlayStation is better at is having solo games with a great story. But when it comes to playing or talking with friends and all of the progress that I just listed that Sony can't live up to. I choose the Xbox. Oh the Interview was a great movie though. So Bungie and Activision can kiss ass all they want I'm sticking with a console built like a tank (Xbox) than run in with a glass shield (PlayStation).

2 commentairesPS guy here, I agree.. it's unfair. But honestly: box users: you're not missing too much. The only thing that's good in the exclusives is hawkmoon- and it's getting nerfed anyway. No reason to be upset.. I don't know about TTK exotics, but for now it's not that great.
-
Your argument is biased. You're putting the shoe firmly on Sony's foot for having the business sense to pay a little more than their rivals for exclusive content. Step back and look at just how much exclusive content Microsoft has paid for, this doesn't solely include dlc, but actual games (Tomb Raider for example). The fact is that each company will strive to bring as many exclusives to their own platform as possible, it's part of the selling point for each console. As far as exclusive content such as dlc ect is concerned, I do think that's wrong, especially with the timed exclusives. I would rather that a full game itself was exclusive to that particular console whose company paid for. Halo, killzone, forza, gran turismo ect.
-
They're not that good to begin with. 2 nerfs ago hawkmoon was beast AF, and I would understand complaining then. 2 nerfs later it's just a regular gun. What you're saying is similar to this: I BOUGHT THE SAME BACKPACK FROM TESCO, BUT YOURS CAME WITH A SEMI-OLD BOX OF TRAIL MIX? -blam!- THIS BAG COMPANY I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER OF THEIR PRODUCTS. -blam!- -blam!- -blam!- -blam!-. -blam!-. SO UNFAIR.
-
Xbox has had exclusive content for FIFA that has been running on for about 2 years. And no, playstation will not get it, so stop whining.
-
Can't wait to hear this crap every year a new disc version of Destiny is released.
-
OP is naive... or stupid. The bottom line is that Sony and Microsoft are competitors. They are competing for the same customers. If one or the other can entice someone to choose their console over the competition with exclusive content, who the hell are you to tell them that the practice is "immoral"? They are in business to make money, period. Why should Sony be concerned with Xbox players who chose their competition? They shouldn't, just like Microsoft shouldn't be concerned with consumers that chose Sony. It is how the world works. Everything in your life has exclusive content right down to your local grocery store. AT&T had exclusive rights in the US to the most popular phone in the world for 5 years. Why? Because they backed up a dump truck full of money to Apple's doorstep. "But that's not fair!" Yup, life ain't fair kid.
-
Exclusives are paid for by Playstation. They do this to make xbox players pull out their hair and hopefully give in to buy a ps4. That is the purpose of exclusives.
-
I love how biased and blind this post is.
-
Opinions, while not wrong per se, can definitely be based in ignorance.
-
You may have paid the same amount of money out of your pocket. But Bungie received more money for PS4 sales than they did Xbox One, per copy. Why? Because Sony paid Bungie and Activision more so they they could provide a better experience to its (ps4) player base. The hope is that more people will go with a ps4 to play Destiny, and push players like you to ditch the Xbox one and get a ps4. If you like the service Microsoft provides. Great, stay with them. If you want the service Sony provides better, switch.
