Thorn and the cowards who rely on it
Let's be honest, Thorn is the most noob gun in the game that requires little skill. Ridiculous range and damage, if the direct shots don't kill the burn always does. It literally does your work for you. Not saying all who use it don't have skill, but how sad is it that you depend on it to get your kills for you while you hide behind a corner.

I never fancied it much, but half the posts on the forums are wailing about how over-powered it is - so I figured I better get it out and level it up if I ever want to see the Lighthouse. Wickedly disappointed. There are posts on here that swear blind that by simply holding that gun, you are almost cheating. Coward, scrub, noob, no skillz, etc. It didn't turn out to be the messenger of doom, didn't shoot people around corners, didn't instantly win all gunfights against everyone else at all ranges. Obviously - I'm not good to begin with, but it clearly takes time and practice to be effective with it, just like every other weapon. I plunged from a fairly reliable one-point-midrange [these days] straight down to negative numbers. Had to go back to fusion and auto just to stop from totally dragging the whole team. If the Thorn requires skill to use, then surely it can't intrinsically be OP? - Critical shot damage is well under The Fulcrum, Ill Will, Timurs Lash, Polite Denial - Body shot damage pales in comparison to Hawkmoon or The Last Word - It take four body shots to kill without the burn, compared to The Last Word’s three – which the latter will do in a fraction of the time. - The aim assist is significantly on the lower end of things – blown away by Jewel of Osiris, Up the Ante, Red Hand IX. It’s actually among the lowest of all the hand canons. More comparable to blue stuff. The only significant hand cannon with less aim assist is Last Word. I'd give some consideration to how you're playing, if you are in a situation where if "direct shots don't kill the burn [b]always [/b]does." To me personally I actually hate the gun, it's a pussy gun, I try not to use it, I actually think it's a pretty garbage gun. The amount of kick it has... But despite me thinking it's garbage I have no other choice, I need to use it, there's no other guns that can go up against it & win. You gotta fight fire with fire...

I never play crucible, but even I managed to do the Thorn bounty in less than a day. Yes I had to play crucible to complete the bounty. The flipside is this, there will always be OP weapons, you just need to find a way to compensate for those that use them. Now if knifing were allowed in crucible, then you could at least organise a group teebag on the users.

I have enough skill in this game to not worry bout the thorn, but when there's at least three thorn users every single match, it is safe to say people are relying on this weapon

To everyone who actually believes the bounty is hard... Seriously? Go .75-1.0 in crucible? Like that is really that hard. And then get 2 other guys or even solo Xyor which is also easy? The bounty isn't hard just demanding, it requires more than the others because they are also really easy.

Yeah, for one of the hardest bounties in the game, as well as leveling it up, i will definately be using it and taking pleasure in it when people whine about how they got absolutely destroyed by it

Thorn is a weapon you fight to earn, and it IS an extremely difficult bounty. Suck it up and learn how to counter it. It's such an easy weapon to counter.

4 commentairesWhy do I kill more Thorn users than Thorn users kill me? 1) I try my hardest to get heavy ammo, Against All Odds is OK in Crucible if running Exotic primary (previous IBs I ran Thunderlord and Up for anything) 2) I play to their weaknesses, Thorn is slow, dodge and dive, strafe them. Health get to red, get into cover, throw a grenade. Bad Juju TTK appears to be in the same region, but BJ has pretty good stability. 3) Treat every opponent as if they are Thorn and Vex, that means cover, distance, and speed. I go + more often than -, and I am better at Iron Banner than normal crucible. Oh and I still hate shotgun ninjas, I prefer Thorn noobs to them. I am not good at SGNing, even with Invective or 4th Horseman, 4H gets the kill but goes through ammo so quick

When I see a thorn user do the following: Equip thorn Beat them with it If you can't beat them with it it means they're better at it than you, which means if they were use a diffrent weapon they'd probably beat you with another weapon anyway and you can sleep at night.

You my friend need a maxed Vex, it melts thorn users, I use it when I see 2 or more thorns...they re nerfed it today, and it still gets the job done...

If you don't like thorn, then use it to kill others that do >:) I got sick of being killed by so instead of bitching about it, I started hunting...

1 commentaireModifié par Prime : 6/3/2015 8:22:26 AMI will only use thorn in the most competitive modes such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, only because it's quick kills and ONLY when I am focused on winning, normally me and my buddy will use no land beyond for jokes or I'd use the jewel or another legendary primary. Personally I feel if people want to use thorn, go right ahead, people can always find away round it instead of complaining on the forums.

What I hate is when they nerf a gun in PvP and it makes it worthless in pve. Such as the vex now. How about we just play the game and have fun? PvP n destiny is a joke anyway.

I still laugh every time I see countless posts about thorn and then think about Bungie and them nerfing suros ....just wtf. Hundreds and hundreds of posts about thorn and the last word so naturally auto rifles need to be adjusted down
