Good players will adapt. Bad players will have something new to cry about. Not sure anything will change at all.

  • Thank you for your point of view. I got a thorn a while ago. Just before the buff came out if memory serves. Didn't have a change to level it up until post buff. It was so much fun! It made me love hand cannons! Opened up my world to try new things! I wanted to give everything a chance! Because my time is limited as I work full time, I cannot spend too long on one weapon. Therefore I had to shelve my thorn and test other weapons out in PVP. I'm still learning after all. I made that call because I believed Bungie would not nerf a weapon after they just buffed it. Consistent playing experience.

A healthy game is more important than a consistent one. Your own example undercuts your argument. According to you, they should have not buffed thorn in the first place. That would have been consistent.

When they buffed thorn did they reduce other weapons in order to accomplish this? Sorry that doesn't apply. Additionally, this game is a grind and requires dedication. How is it fair for gamers that have families, jobs, obligations in life to be punished because of them. Cheers!

  • I own my own business and have two kids. I'm a casual. These changes are in tune with their ultimate vision of the game. It's sucks that it affects you in a negative way, but they are necessary. Fusion rifles and shotguns needed a PvP nerf. The AR damage nerf was curious, but no one really used those in pve anyway. And hand cannons were not meant to be some magic, use at every range weapon. Hand cannons should not effectively replace AR in short range, snipers and scouts at long range and dominate at mid range. Like I said, good players will adapt, bad players will have something new to cry about. As long as the game remains healthy, people will still play it.

That's your own personal philosophy and it's highly specific. I've been having an absolute blast in PVP and think it's one of the best in gaming history. I'm nothing special in the arena as well. Not all business are alike and some require more constant attention than others. Bungie is threatening to alienate many gamers by starting down this slippery slope. As you can see in the positive feedback from these amazing Guardians, many agree. Thank you though!

  • It's not my philosophy, it's Bungie's. It's obvious what their intention was, and they've explicitly stated it. That's the state of the game, not my opinion. Primary weapons are intended to have an effective range. That's why there is various archetypes within the weapon classes (high rate of fire versus medium versus low rate of fire ARs for example). I've used a shotgun in the crucible since day 1, if the nerf is bad, I'll switch to a sniper. I'm not great in the crucible either, but it's fun. Like I said, balancing weapons never kills a game. Good players adapt, bad players don't. Lack of content or bad content kills a game.

Well I, good sir, am saying Bungie has PVP at an excellent balance. I am telling them they have a consumer here that a week ago was 95% sure he was ready to dedicate an entire decade to playing this game. The major reason for this came from how PVP is setup now. When I die in PVP it's usually because of my mistakes. My indiscipline. Sometimes it's lag but the setup is at a good 1:1 ratio for encounters. It's fair and consistent. This is coming from a moderately skilled, sometimes RNGesus blessed run of the mill Destiny lovin' guardian. Good day to you.
