Hi,
I have the same problem.
I play Destiny with my profile without any restriction because i'm 39.
But I create sub accounts for my children, and they can't access with the same message "NOT SO FAST! This account has been restricted from online play via parental controls".
I made several tests. The parental controls on PS4 settings give (or note) the access to the application. But when you set "Allow" or "level 11" you can lunch Destiny.
The restriction access appear after, when the application reach Destiny servers.
Any idea, or help ???

It's the same as mine. My daughter wants to access the network features for Persona 5 so I set the parental control age limits to 'Allowed'... but every time she tries to access the features, it comes up with the N3 error code that won't let her use it. What can I do??

Hi Tycrith, This restriction may be caused because it is relevant for online gameplay. If your kids playing the other games offline, they wouldn't have hit the parental control. Destiny requires an online connection at all times, and the parental controls may restrict this. Please see the steps below on adjusting the controls: There are two different parental control settings you can access: 1. Console side – This is in Settings -> Parental Controls. 2. Account side – This is managed here: https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. For the second option: 1. Navigate to https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com and sign into the “parent” account. 2. Navigate to Account -> Sub Accounts 3. Under Parental Controls (Edit)-> Content Restriction. Set this value to OFF (note – you may want to also set Chat/Message set to Allow so that chat features can be used).

AArrrggghhh! It has taken me DAYS to navigate the f**kwit customer journey to create a subaccount so my children can play Destiny. Now I find I've just spent £40 on a PSN membership that won't work. I must admit, I am beginning to HATE Sony with a murderous passion...

There is no setting under parental controls for "Content Restriction". How else can I get around this ridiculous restiction ?

All, I have since spoken with Playstation about this. Basically, if you create a sub account for someone whose age is less than that of the game, PS4 recognises that the user is not "old enough" to play the game and bars all online features. Because destiny is solely an online game, that means that anyone under the age of 16 (it's Pegi rating is 16) will NOT be able to play Destiny, and the servers check against the age in PSN. Also, you can't change the DOB of a PSN account. The ONLY way around this is to create a new PSN account where the account holder is 18+. That's why so many people lie about their ages. Regarding the parental controls, there's really no point to them as far as I can see... Irrelevant of whether you want your kids to access the game, PSN will not let them if they are not old enough. #NannyState

Hi All. I agree this situation is utterly ridiculous. The PEGI ratings on games are very subjective and should be in the hands of the user/parent, not SONY or the games maker (I have seen posts of SONY blaming the game developer, such as activision). I set up a sub account for my 8 year old son and have all parental controls on the machine set to ALLOW. He has been playng Trials Fusion which is a 12 rated game. However, I have decided that his use of the editor function is quite educational; but I restrict his time on the addictive game play (which can really be the only reason it is a 12). So, local play works fine. However, a really great feature of the game if the online leaderboards,, which include my own times on the courses, and of course on his account we are getting the sodding message that he cannot access on-line features due to his age. Actually it says "parental controls", but they are nothing of the sort, they are corporate controls! So he cannot see his own best times or mine on the leaderboard, he cannot see any leaderboard. Ridiculous. He now of course doesn't want a new account as he has built up various profiles, medals and scores on other games. I wonder whether a data protection request can be made to have Sony reveal and then alter the age on the account. It is clear to me anyone considering setting up an account for a minor should lie about the age at the beginning and manage access themselves.
