• Halo Plot Hole 3 is already 1080p/60fps and part of the MCC.

  • This is Halo 3: ODST, not just 3.

  • Nah they released H2A last month, by far the worst Halo campaign.

  • Is this a joke or are you really that stupid? Lets compare CE and H2's campaigns. CE: - Well-paced campaign that never dragged. - Clear and concise story - The best and most aesthetically pleasing open levels in the history of Halo - A clever, well-worked AI that were both fair and satisfying to fight. - A satisfying ending H2: - Campaign that was far too long for Bungie to pull off, it dragged massively. - Arbiter missions (the main reason the game dragged). - Badly paced levels with various sections that included you standing around waiting for enemies to spawn or standing around on lifts waiting for enemies to jump on you. - A story that jumps around all over the place (again mainly due to the misplacement of arbiter missions) - An uglier art style than CE despite graphical improvements - AI quality was still there but you had other horrible additions such as jackal sniper and bullet sponge brutes. - A really shitty ending that everyone hated.

  •
- Campaign that was far too long for Bungie to pull off, it dragged massively.
What's wrong with this? One of the reasons why people dislike the later Halo campaigns is because they are too short. Halo 2's campaign length is perfect. Every Halo game after should have had a similar or longer length.
- Arbiter missions (the main reason the game dragged).
Disagreed. The only Arbiter mission I don't like that much is Oracle because of the Elevator part. Other than that, the Arbiter missions were a great addition to Halo because you get to see what the Covenant really are from their perspective for the first time ever. You learn so much about them when you are playing as Arbiter. In Halo CE you don't know all that much about The Covenant other than that they are all evil and want to wipe out humanity and activate Halo. In Halo 2, you learn that not all The Covenant are truly evil, only the Prophets and Brutes are the ones that are truly evil.
- Badly paced levels with various sections that included you standing around waiting for enemies to spawn or standing around on lifts waiting for enemies to jump on you.
You must have been playing a different game because that is not true about Halo 2. You described Firefight, not a Halo campaign.
- A story that jumps around all over the place (again mainly due to the misplacement of arbiter missions)
Refer to my above post about the Arbiter missions.
- An uglier art style than CE despite graphical improvements
You're crazy. Halo 2 will always look better than CE. The Covenant look way better and not blocky-looking like they were in CE, The Flood look menacing and frightening, the vehicle destruction on the vehicles was ahead of its time, way better skyboxes(look at The Library on Sacred Icon/Quarantine Zone), human faces look way better, and the weapon designs were better than ever. Halo 2 classic still holds up, even today.
- AI quality was still there but you had other horrible additions such as jackal sniper and bullet sponge brutes.
Jackal Snipers are not so bad. Once you figure out where they spawn, the levels are easy to get through. Brutes in Halo 2 may take a lot of damage, but I'd rather fight Halo 2 Brutes than Halo 3 or Reach Brutes. They were so easy to kill in those games, even on the highest difficulty.
- A really shitty ending that everyone hated.
The ending was lacking because of all the content that was cut from Halo 2. But the ending we got basically made the slogan for Halo 3 "Finish the Fight." At the time when I was young and played the game, I wasn't mad or disappointed, I was more excited at the fact that there was going to be another Halo game to be made.

  •
What's wrong with this?
It dragged loads, pretty sure I already said that. I agree with the part about seeing the covenant from their POV and the betrayal of the elites, that was the strongest point of the story, but the arbiter missions themselves were generally boring and badly designed.
You described Firefight, not a Halo campaign.
No it happened a lot in H2, waiting on platforms and elevators for enemies to spawn. Off the top of my head, The Oracle, Quarantine Zone, Regret all had large sections like that and I know there are a few others I can picture in my head, just can't remember the names of the missions. H2 will always be the ugliest Halo to me, but that's just opinion. Jackal Snipers, especially on legendary where they seem to have instantly enabled auto-aim, are incredibly cheap and often can result in you dying over and over if you get a bad checkpoint. It's terrible AI design. Bullet sponge brutes just forces players to be incredibly defensive, this isn't necessarily a bad thing but long sections with a lot of them become an extreme bore.

  • I agree with every thing you just said man. And even the brutes aren't that bad with a battle rifle or carbine. Very easy to kill in 2 to 3 shots

  • No way did halo CE have the most aesthetically pleasing open spaces. Pillar of autumn, truth & reconciliation, library, the maw? All are so tedious to play through. I do agree with the AI though, halo CE had the best enemies...except for the hunters.

You just named all the ugliest levels. What about Halo and The Silent Cartographer? Bungie never managed to create such appealing environments in any of their other Halo games.

It had 1 good and memorable level, and that was the NMPD HQ level. And its the shortest campaign, even on Legendary. My friend and I beat the whole game on Legendary in about 4 hours.

  • Eh, or I thought it was one of the better campaigns. 1. H2 2. ODST 3. CE 4. Reach 5. H3 6. H4 At least for me.

  • At least Halo 3's campaign attempts to try to tell a story and is actually fun to play.

Halo 3 does try to tell a story. It's just that it doesn't bother trying until halfway through the game once you reach the Ark. Then the plot actually starts to show itself. As for fun, I don't know. It doesn't have the vast, open nature of CE, or the novelty of seeing two sides of the story like 2. The Brutes weren't as fun to fight as Elites; never really liked them as the main fighting force. And then there's Cortana...

  • Halo 3 has somewhat of a mix between open-nature combat from CE with some Halo 2 close-environment combat all in one. That's why whenever I played through Halo 3 for the very first time, I suddenly got a CE feel once I hit The Ark and onwards. The Ark and The Covenant for me definitely have that CE feel to it. I used to play those levels over and over back in the day. CE has The Library, Halo 2 has Oracle, and Halo 3 has Cortana. All 3 of these games have that annoying level that most don't like to play whereas the rest of the campaign is actually fun.
