First, we do kill old people, it's called euthanasia. And sometimes there are medical reasons, the child birth can be harmful to the mother or something. There's also the moral issue of "is it better for a kid to grow up with an incapable mother in a broken home, or to save them from that life".

So do I. I'm pretty sure euthanasia is illegal in almost every state, and where if is legal is only assisted suicide. Meaning it's the choice of the person who is going to die. We don't just go around killing old people... yet.

If a family member has power of attorney, they can pull the plug. They can decide life or death.

That's true, but only when they're incapacitated. Like in a coma or something worn little chance of coming out of it.
