It's not a bad idea, IF it could be implemented easily. I just don't think they think it is worth the effort however.
Edit---and obviously, no one thinks this will be one week only and never happen again. It'just that missing one week once in awhile isn't that big of a deal. Disclaimer---I have never done any of them.

I was regularly farming them on three characters. Coins were nice for the sparrow upgrades (had 2 of 3) as well as heavy ammo for G'horn. It was fun to spend time with friends in hopes of new exotics (or crap rewards like energy). I don't care if they would have capped old content with level 30 rewards, that is understandable. And no, it's not going to change. Bungie has made it clear this is intended and the way it is going to be. They believe in the business model of bullying their player base.
