Wired controllers out of the front are the greatest. Screw the rear IO.

Yeah let's put the power jack and HDMI on the front. Yaay. While we are it it let's make a noose, to increase the flow of oxygen to the brain. If I was in charge you would have optional charging mat compatible Dualshock 4 controllers, yes sure there is a cost but there is a market. So I would have no need to use the USB, now we are talking lol. Remember I said it first!

This; the Original Xbox and 360's breakaway cables on wired controllers wouldn't work with rear USB ports. Plus front IO designs look cool - the N64 wouldn't have nearly as much character without those friendly looking controller ports.
