Thorn Exotic Bounty - how can it be changed
glad to see the thorn getting buffed, how about sorting out its bounty and removing the negative on death, or the void requirement? cause if i'm going to be forced into go into the crucible to get it, i dont want to spend any more time in there than is required, given thats not where i intend using it.
and yes, i'll keep bringing this up. as i believe there are enough people that actually give a shit.
edit: its interesting. everyone thats commented, has a K/D ratio over 1.4, and some are almost at 2. no wonder this stage is easy for you. you basically live in the crucible. good to see that your empathetic to those that dont want to enter the crucible. maybe the last mission should be made harder so you lot know what its like to do a stage thats all but impossible to those of us that dont like the crucible.
edit: at least 27% of voters feel some form of change is, would be, required. less people got the vex and PI nerfed to the point they were all but worthless for 2 months. less whinged and got raid quality gear for iron banner, when it should have only been sourced from VoG going by half the arguments in the thread. enough people want some form of change for a viable solution to be thought of. if you disagree with this, then you cannot be helped. and i for one will be fighting every change thats asked for by any and all crucible players, to make absolutely sure their whinges get left and things dont change.
EDIT: i ended up cheesing the shit out of it. kinda pointless, but at least i get the gun. would rather have done it properly, but at my skill level, its near impossible. as it is for many other players. and it still doesnt change the fact this stage needs addressing. you can say its fine until the end of days, but its not totally fair for everyone in the game, when compared to some of the other bounties.
EDIT: for those that are struggling with this stage, if you can, get 1 or 2 mates that are reasonable good within the crucible, fireteam up, join a rumble match (bigish maps means plenty of hiding spots), join a voice chat channel with just you 2, and tell him where you are. he'll run to you and you can farm him for kills. do this until you have the points.

I love how hard the thorn bounty is. I would prefer if all exotics were obtained this way (no problem with xur, just let him sell bounties instead of the exotics). I got thorn and I don't play crucible ever, it's not that hard.

I just got the bounty for the thorn today. The crucible part is annoying but every little point I get pushes me to get good and to top that part of the bounty. I like it the way it is because it's an exotic weapon that they pretty much hand to you, along with the other exotic bounties.

Keep it as is, the thorn is a beast now. It warrants the "tough" bounty.

If you're not good enough to complete the bounty than you're not good enough to own the rewards! Just because you're a scrub doesn't mean the game should be dumbed down to your level, just so you can be rewarded with things other had to work hard towards. I'm happy to see that an overwhelming majority disagrees with you! Good poll kid.

1 ReplyWow, Thorn was literally the only true exotic weapon around, it was difficult to obtain, no one could carry you through.... but you found a way... and on top of that you ruined many guardians rumble matches You should have taken the bounty as a lesson and worked to change your play style for abit, you would have benefitted greatly from it I wish bungie would take thorn away from you for practically boosting your way to it

I agree with this. I'm a warlock and decent at PvP, but I find being forced to only use void damage to be pretty annoying. Doable, but annoying and time consuming. I end up having to use Light/Beware FR every game which I just find annoying. I prefer to use a variety of guns/abilities, lol :/

I'm not good at PvP, but I don't see why this should be made easier... It took me a couple of days of playing to get this - you just need to be selective about your engagements to maximise your chances at getting a void kill (and using a void based class makes all the difference). You found a way to do it in the end - personally I wouldn't feel comfortable about getting the gun that way, but that's just my opinion. If there was going to be a change, I would suggest that *at most* it should be maybe void assists giving 1 point.

The Thorn is awesome. I may not be a very good PvPer but having a hard bounty makes this gun more Exotic. This is a reward that you feel you deserve at the end of the bounty. I wish the other bounties made me feel the same. If having problems with the PvP stage get an Atheon's Epilogue as a void primary and as long as you get a kill every two deaths you are still moving forward.

I'm completely awful at crucible and I got it done. Took me about a week. If my previously .35 k/d ratio having self can do it anyone can. Strap on a fusion rifle and play defensively. Run away if needed. Camp blind corners. Camp the flag. Cheesy tactics but oh well.

It's difficult, it's annoying as hell, and it's frustrating. But for as good as the gun is now, it shouldn't be at all easy. I stay out of the Crucible 99% of the time unless I have to be there for the Exotic bounties or the Iron Banner, but it's not anywhere near impossible for us PvE only guys.

I have a kdr that is just over 1. If you use void weapons you can have a kdr of 0.5 for every game and still get the bounty. It's a challenging and enjoyable bounty for what is now one of the best exotic weapons.
