Is anything going to be done about them? I just did a strike to kill whatshisname on Earth. It was me and another guy with one dude just sitting in the back doing nothing.
We wiped once and when he spawned next to us he just ran to safety, so I know he was there.
This is the 4th time someone has been doing this today.

Edited by KA1M1K4ZE: 10/6/2014 4:45:02 AMHappened to me several times, too. I think a good solution would be a votekick to make space for a new member.

This has definitely gotten out of hand, almost every game there's someone that just stands their. Best to just play with friends.
-
I see it a lot. Just report the players for inactivity and unhelpfulness, I doubt it will do anything but hey, it's all bungie have given us for options... The afk'ers are killing the fun of strikes...
-
Read a few comments and I've actually experienced this behavior. What I think is that the player(s) in question are trying to complete the finish a strike without dying bounty. There's an exotic and vanguard versions. I've also seen players quit strikes because they died. One guy on my fireteam actually went to orbit because he died during the boss fight!
-
Next time go and sit with them, not only will he strike not get finished and force them to play, but if you're lucky you can aggro some enemies their way and do the deciding for them:)

I wish if they were AFK they would get kicked after a certain amount of time bc I hate that

Edited by o_SHADOWFAX_o: 10/6/2014 3:48:34 AMIn all honesty, there isn't much you can do. I think more and more players are beginning to see that Bungie's failed game design (the random drop idea that somehow didn't quite ring the right bells in the minds of their dev's) is a farce. I am just amazed at how many of this games' features were not well thought through...the loot drops being one of the main ones. While I am enjoying watching friends play this game, I continue to see players who (like the example you just gave) know that if they just hang out - they'll probably get the better items - having done nothing at all . Again, I'm sure this all seemed to be just an amazing idea in development (not that it's a bad one), i just can't understand how NO ONE on their team (Dev Team) never raised the question of, "Yeah but what happens when someone just sits there, and get's everything for nothing?" Or maybe they did?

I use the report feature and cite them for being "Unhelpful" and "Inactivity"
-
The only time I go "AFK" is when my son wakes up and needs me. If I'm in a group of randoms, I'll leave immediately so I'm not bothering them. If I'm in a group of good friends, they understand. I only play when my wife and son are sleeping or when my son is at daycare.
-
I don't understand the people that instead of firing they'll just go find safe areas during boss fights. Reported and blocked the last guy(adderall in my strike history on earth strike). It's shitty, straight up.

1 ReplyI remember when people AFK'd in Firefight on Halo Reach, they implemented a system so if you had AFK'd you wouldn't get any reward at the end of it, hopefully they can do something similar!
-
10 RepliesThey should patch it so if inactive for 15 minutes, account ban for 1 day
-
I usually just back out and find a new lobby where someone isn't doing that. I doubt anything is going to be done about them, but if people backed out of every lobby that they joined, I'm sure they wouldn't do it anymore.
-
Quit and try search another strike session
-
3 RepliesIf you wanna get technical the term would be afc not afk since your away from the controller and not the keyboard

3 RepliesI was playing the Mars strike the other day with a couple of friends. We were inside the building and I jumped and landed between a rail and ledge and was stuck for almost 10 minutes. They thought I was just hanging back. Nope, couldn't move. My super finally activated and I managed to work my way free. I was wishing one of them would come back so enemy would spawn and kill me so I could play but they just assumed the worse. I recorded the entire thing and meant to go back and see if I could replicate it but had forgotten all about it.

You'll never get upset or angry If you play this way. At least not at other people.

I've done it when something irl required attention.
-
I would just leave and go do another strike if it happened to me. There's no way I'm doing all the work for him. Simple. Problem solved.
-
I usually leave if I have to set the controller down for more than a min. And even them I feel bad.
-
They should just allow AFKer to be kicked if the other two members vote in favor of it. I have gone AFK due to screaming babies, screaming wife, or both at the same time. I didn't always have the time to leave the strike. More like a drop the joystick and pray the baby or wife calm down quickly. In those situations, I would understand and expect a kick.
-
If bungie were to address anything if hope I to be this, and please make it an in game msg. That way all players will receive the memo: AFK is a reportable/punishable offence. I'm so very tired of these so called "guardians" who do nothing for the cause and reap the rewards. I could care less if you quit and I have to solo it, but if I know you're there and your doing jack then damnit I want justice!
-
That is an actual reason to report someone.
-
1 ReplyReport them as inactive

Report for inactivity.

What I also hate is when you've got to kill Sepiks and both teammates go to orbit after the walker is destroyed. It's obvious they were just in it for the Queen's bounty, but at least have the decency to finish what you start.
