Yup, MGS PW got monster boss missions. Monster Hunter got the MGS stealth suit as craft able armor.

I actually just got Monster Hunter...for my iPod...yeah....Freedom Unite. Played the PSP demo and liked it.

Iv'e only played the demo on the Wii U took me 10-20 min to kill the easy monster :[

What weapon type? I'm leaning more towards ranged weapons....seems stupid since I'm likely gonna play solo for the most part...even more so since the light bow gun seems better for me.

I don't like melee...seems weird to me that you'll go up against a giant monster with a weapon that leaves you so exposed...mainly towards slow weapons & the dual swords thing...meanwhile I'm just running around with meh gun

I'm not fond of any of them since everyone is so slow I want someone who moves fast and attacks fast

Shield is...something. The heavy bow gun has a shield but...no idea how that's used. Guess whatever hits you up front.

Yeah, except the shield is useless if the monster decides to be a huge dick and throw it's whole body at you also I played the demo's hard mode god that winged shark was a huge douche especially underwater didn't even kill him :[ [spoiler]thank you for the thread bump![/spoiler]

Nah, it's hidden. Look it up. Something like "monsters in MGS Peace walker". They're a bitch to kill solo, unless you have really good stuff. You can even tranq them and you get some material items like that. Plus you can shoot of parts like their tail.
