They're all missing the obvious. Yes, most randoms will probably suck. Yes, co-operation blah blah blah... @_@ Yes, very challenging, trustworthy teammates... HOWEVER, have you not stopped to think that maybe, JUST MAYBE, people will attempt and fail a raid but ADD TO THEIR FRIENDS anyone who they thought did well? The best place in the whole world to meet ANYONE with regards to ANYTHING is doing the thing that you want to find people for. Edit : I'll put in a few more clauses here seeing as people keep bringing up the same illogical counter points. - You need people who have the same 6 hours or whatever free as you do. Anyone who's matchmaking for a Raid, probably has several hours reserved for it, and thus, is a good potential Raid partner. - In an actual Raid, NOT Strikes or PvP, you can see how your teammates handle a Raid, thus determining whether or not, THEY ARE GOOD AT RAIDS! =O OMFG LOGIC!!! - There were a couple of guys who made this point in my thread, but I can only find one of them at short notice without re-reading it, sorry for missing you out other guy. Anyway, THIS POINT from Magic Air is something you need to consider :
People are exchanging psn/gamertags with anybody who will exchange theirs back. Randoms joining randoms for the specific purpose of raiding in Destiny. It's true that not everybody is doing this, of course. But the point is that matchmakers gonna matchmake for dem loots, doesn't matter who with. And that's what's happening. Matchmakers matchmaking. :)
It's still randoms, just randoms you met on a Forum and with no idea how competent they actually are at the game. Matchmaking is quicker and easier. That's common sense, and if you're incapable of understanding that, feel free to return to your tribal hovel. It's a purely beneficial cycle. Play the game doing what you want to do, find people with shared interests, team up and play together.
If you don't have 5 friends to run raids with then you have a problem. Destiny has a bunch of different avenues for you to find players to run raids with. The way raids is being made out to be. It's going to take alot of skill and planning to crack them. I rather struggle with friends than randoms any day. My friends I know what their reactions would to be to certain situations or the type of attitude I will have to deal with when the pressures on. So I suggest you start recruiting now like everyone else. #Bungie keep up the good work and make the raids difficult so the rewards will be even better.

 • Yes but those ways are not integrated directly into the game (except for messaging randoms constantly in the tower/patrol/whatever) Adding matchmaking will not do anything to people who have pre created squads ready to go

 • I'm sorry, but that's just silly. I like single player experiences, and I love co-op, but I don't really like most people I meet online. In the current system, I have to go acquire the rare and illustrious "rando who's not a total d-bag" 5 times to even start the mission, when instead I might be able to get my brother and a college buddy (because, even with some effort, that's all I've got who who are on my platform) and just get automatically sent another fire team? I love that this works for other people, don't get me wrong. But to someone in my position (and clearly, there's lots of us), it just feels like Bungie is telling us to go to hell, when I don't want to go to hell. I want to play the raid without having to confront stupid, unnecessary, and impossible chores that are really much better handled by a computer anyway.

 • I don't have a problem with Raids being difficult and I don't have a problem with playing with randoms. Why can't both exist at the same time? :/ And give people the choice between randoms or not. That doesn't stop anybody from NOT playing with randoms if they don't want to do so.

 • Just checked the Achievements. They'll probably add matchmaking, and that 65G Flawless Raider one will be ALL OVER TA and XboxAchievements, as will the Clan ones.
