You could connect it with a LAN cable to step up the connection

  • Thanks for trying to help. It's not a standard ping problem, it's Destiny's PvP mode straight up using way too much of my upload speed which is causing my entire network to lag.

Bungie PVP recommended connection specs state, at times, will require 1MB of upload to function correctly. A lot of people in Australia, where I am, don't get a 1MB upload, as infrastructure is still quite primitive here, although things are changing slowly. The result, at times, where more than my 6-700k upload is required, feels like you can't damage anyone, or you do very little damage to other players. Xbox live specifies 500k upload is sufficient for multiplayer games & all other popular multi-player games employ dedicated servers, either partially or completely, to address the potential short fall so that it doesn't impact players. I don't know how Bungie got server-less Peer to Peer PVP past Microsoft specs with the 1mb upload? What I do know is that all the decent PVP players that I know personally, all have more than 1MB upload at their disposal. I suspect, at times, PVP requires even more than the 1MB upload specified by Bungie & typically a player with NBN, cable, even 4G, tend to do a lot better in PVP. In contrast, sub 1mb upload players frequently struggle in Destiny PVP & report better results in other popular multi-player games. I personally have over 6k hrs in Destiny, almost Max Grimoire, over 500 raid completions & even some trips to the lighthouse. I put up with the frequent overwhelming defeats & horrible stats in crucible because I enjoy the games so much in other ways. I really hope Destiny 2 has some form of dedicated server support for the Crucible, & they drop the peer to peer server-less multi-player model. Having said all this, we're expecting Fibre to be installed in our area soon so I probably won't care so much what Destiny does with PVP thereafter as I will have bandwidth to spare & a much improved ping : )
