Honestly though I wouldn't be opposed to a national dating service. Some people just don't have the time to actively look for someone else while trying to maintain their school/work schedule and still long for that kind of that relationship. Could be argued under mental health or something for its implementation.

I was already in a bad mood because on my walk back to the building my phone slipped out of my pocket and fell onto concrete and most of the screen shattered. So I was already bummed out before I got to the building, I wasn't really in a sarcastic mood. Any attempt to do something like that would make me look like I was just trying to save face.

And? If done right it can be seen as a joke or even corny. Both of which can be seen as positives because A) it shows you're aware of how ridiculous you look and are confident enough to laugh at yourself. You wouldn't believe how many chicks have told me that they love that I can do this without feeling like my "manliness" is being threatened. B) corny isn't always bad. Corny can be cute, but like anything you need to get practice on how and when to do it.

Well I didn't think about it at the time because of everything that was going on. I'm pretty sure she didn't mean to be rude to me, because she's really nice (I got to talk to her for ten minutes before our shifts started that morning). But it was still pretty embarrassing to have her catch me like a deer in the headlights.
