Do they seem like arrogant, egotistical, greedy, and self-centered idiots? Or do they seem more like entrepreneurs, who pioneer the spread of democracy and capitalism, leading the world forward? If you are an American, why do you think people view you these ways?

5 RepliesEdited by JoshBro: 5/23/2014 6:24:57 PMAs you all know, I hate Americans, but I despise American tourists, you see them every summer in large tour groups saying things like "Oh my god, that's so interesting", -blam!-ing scum. Id' love to march em up into a loyalist area and tell them to wave a tricolour.

1 ReplyIt's pretty much 50/50. On one hand, we're BFFs with a long and largely positive history of political, economic, and cultural association. But then we see someone from Nevada get off a plane at Pearson Airport wearing a parka in the middle of June and ask ourselves how our next door neighbours of 200 years could be so out to lunch.
Being metaphorical there, but I bet something like that has happened at some point.
Of course, we're a lot more passive aggressive in our criticism of the US compared to most countries, as seen in Talking To Americans.

3 RepliesHere in Australia they are seen as loud, obnoxious, narrow minded, self centred idiots. No joke.

2 RepliesPersonally I think it's hit and miss, just with any country. You have jerks as much as you have some great people. I find that the difference is that Americans are more so "America is better than your country" and others tend to be more along the lines of "You are simply stupid because I say so and I am right". My two cents.

25 RepliesTrue story. Back in October 08 I was in a bar in Belfast, anyway we ran into these 2 old American tourists, they where discussing the election, now me being excited at Obamas anti-war and anti-gtmo stances had me supporting him and I was interested if America could over come it's racist instincts and elect the first black president. So me and my friend where talking to these 2 yanks and I ask "you wanting Obama to win?" "No I'm a Republican, but this guy here is a Democrat". One of them said "so an Obama supporter yeah?" "No I'm voting Republican, I wanted Hilary to win, no n**ger is getting my vote" says the other one. Bar goes silent, they get turffed out... racist pigs. Some Democrat eh? No word of a lie.

8 RepliesEdited by faunidae: 5/22/2014 11:59:55 AMThere isn't one specific way Americans look. We've assimilated just about every culture and ethnicity into our populace.
