I feel sorry for the troops, but the crash was probably mercy, saving them from their inevitable, slow, painful deaths on the Eastern Front

Yeah I suppose it is almost mercy. Much better than sitting in Stalingrad freezing, starving to death, and getting shot by Russians.

Definitely, not all of those german troops were "[url=http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url] 's", many didn't have a choice, or were brainwashed

Yes definitely although the Wehrmacht (Normal army) still committed plenty of atrocities I do not go around saying they were all [url=http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url], doesn't seem right. Many of those soldiers were just like the average GI, its always interesting to read German stories to get it from the other side.The most apolitical branch of the German military back than was the Luftwaffe, you'll be hard pressed to find a Luftwaffe pilot who liked or was part of the [url=http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url] party, same probably goes for the Kriegsmarine as well. I feel like more people need to see it from the other sides perspective so they can get the whole picture.
