I never really thought about that part. Maybe the portal expanded or something to accommodate High Charity. Though if High Charity swung by Earth during Halo 3, why it didn't drop off some Flood before going through is beyond me. There could be another explanation. Covie tech is all reversed engineered Forerunner stuff, but the Covenant don't know how to make it operate at its full potential. Gravemind obviously knows quite a lot about Forerunner technology, so maybe it went all Geordi on HC's jump drives to make the trip in a straight jump. But there's a hole there too. How would it have known the Ark's location? He captured 2401PT, but Monitors knew nothing about the Ark, and they wouldn't have left that info lying around in Delta Halo's computers.

Traveling to the LMC in the Ecumene's fasted ship prompted the Librarian and her crew to be put into stasis. Yeah, with the lack of info on the Ark's location, the only viable method is to use the portal at Earth, which as I stated in this thread, just doesn't work.
