Have you read about bismarcks policies? That man was freaking on top of things. He was juggling all sorts of alliances so that no matter what happened Germany was going to be in the majority of 3 out of the 5 superpowers in Europe. Then that idiot fired him, pissed off Russia, and successfully isolated Germany into the minority of two (Germany and Austria) against three (England, Russia, and France).
