You'll have three weapon slots. Primary, Special, and Heavy.
LMGs, like Thunderlord, would fall into the Heavy slot.
There's nothing preventing your friend from only using heavy weapons, once he finds one.

He is afraid that the heavy slot is very limited in ammo.

Edited by Nitron F117: 9/7/2013 7:09:21 PMThe heavy slot doesn't determine your ammo. That's specific to the gun. For example; the Thunderlord starts with a 36 round mag, but you can upgrade it to have a 54 round mag. I would assume there are varying starting mag sizes and upgrades for all weapon types.

Bungie said the heavy slot is for ridiculous amounts of damage over a small window of time. Let's say you lost thunderlord in an mp match. Can you start with it again?
Let's say you lost thunderlord in an mp match.
Is that possible?

If you die?

There hasn't been word on any sort of death penalty. Let alone a PvP penalty.

You do not seem to understand me. If I lose thunderlord (somebody kills me) can I start with it again or do I have to find it again in the world?
-
And I'm saying Bungie hasn't confirmed that you lose anything when you die.

I see. Sorry about that. I hope you can keep everything because my friend will be pissed if you cannot. I hope each slot is balanced.
