I play on and off. Some days it'll be my main game I play other times I don't touch it for like a week. I can see the game being much better in the future though. Just right now the game tries to act like it can run before it can walk properly

I fully agree with you and I play exactly the same way, I'll play hours and hours for maybe 2-4 days and get sick of it. However I've been talking with a lot of the veterans from the first beta and keeping up with news about confirmed future updates. In about a 1-2 years this game will be the best F2P shooter on any platform- for adults of course

Edited by Phantom: 7/11/2013 6:46:46 AMWell Planetside 2 is coming to PS4. I've been playing Dust since like last year in April during very early closed beta. It has improved a lot since then. Some hiccups in changes but overall the game has made some strides. Kind of now the reason I jump on now is cause I'm part of a corp and the members are fun people to play with. I sometimes question though why I play Dust since I do have other multiplayers that are more finely tuned. I just downloaded Planetside 2 on my computer but I just gotta tweak with it to work.
-
Planetside 2 is kinda meh. The devs actually banned players for pointing out glitches... Yeah, nice Devs.... I've been with Dust since closed beta, and I'm staying.
-
But Planetside 2 actually has their vision in place. Large epic battles with thousands of players with infantry, ground and aerial vehicles working together. Where as Dust...the vision of potential is there but the execution? Thats gonna take some time.
-
Yeah Planetside 2 looks sweet. The only reason I keep playing Dust is because the community is mature and great to just chat with while actually working together. I know I can always play it if I feel like a sci-if shooter.
-
That is true, community is overall more mature. Honestly CCP will probably need the PS4 to come anywhere close to the vision they have for Dust. But for right now? They just need to get the actual shooting mechanics right. Oh and delve more into improving their map design skills.

Edited by JOSH55886: 7/11/2013 7:18:01 AMAt least they added snow in 1.2. And when I was scrolling through the options, it had graphics options. What the fu-? Console games aren't supposed to have the option to turn textures and particles to low lol. I have it all maxed out and it still runs fine, don't notice much of a difference, it will take awhile, but the game will get better. It already is.
-
I know it is better, miles better than what it was in the closed beta last year when I joined. But honestly? The shooting mechanics are still pretty meh compared to other shooters. I know Dust will get better in time but I wish CCP would still keep the mechanics of the game the priority instead of just throwing in new weapons and gear. Make my time with your present gear more enjoyable.

Edited by JOSH55886: 7/11/2013 7:28:52 AMYou know. If you want to watch Fanfest I'll send you a link. They talk about Dust for nearly 3 hours, including what they want in the future, such as, and this is just a random one, I think it's the coolest though, the ability to go into space and board EvE ships. And by boarding, they mean destroying/taking over. Anyways. Read the Dev Blogs, and watch 'Dust 514 Advancing The Core" They actually are improving the game. They are not releasing any new content for quite a while now. There will be very small new content, but they are 100% focused on improving what we have in the game now, including aiming. Then once all is said and done, we can get the cool features and Dust can finally truly be a FPS like no other.
-
I know. I watched Fanfest and keep up with the Dev Blogs. But thats just it. CCP has the vision but they gotta have the foundation gameplay good or its still not a good game. It then becomes a bad game with a bunch of cool ideas.
-
Yeah. What I was saying is, please note, they've said recently they are not adding new content, they're fixing it. 1.3 is in QA now I think, and 1.4 is also done. It just has to get approved. 1.3 should come out the end of this month, or very very early August. If this month, that makes 2 big updates in 1 month. That's pretty good.
-
Ok hopefully the shooting can finally be refined so they can then work on making their vision true.
-
Yeah, they had to scrap a lot of work though. I think that's why it's so behind. They had the Carbon Engine but it was too much for the PS3, it was too much for some high end PCs even. So they had to scrap that and go with Unreal Engine 3.
-
Hmm...maybe they should've waited for PS4
-
They have a 5 year plan for the PS3. After that I'm assuming we will either get it on PS4 or support for PS3 will be dropped and they'll move full onto PS4. Maybe the PS4 can run their Carbon Engine. That would be great.
-
Probably could. Maybe they didn't get optimization right on PS3 in the first place
-
I'm not sure.
-
My money is on the optimization. You said they couldn't get it right on high end PCs and optimization on Dust with the Unreal Engine still needs work.
-
I agree, then again I'd just be bored at night if they did haha
