You can get away with a pretty small amount, depending on what all you plan on doing. If you're trying to get your own food you'll need supplies for catching/killing/cleaning/cooking, but if youre bringing food you all you need is cooking utensils. Stuff like that. Not sure about where to go for best prices, but if you want to save as much money as possible, you could go with a super small kit. Tent, knife, rope, food, cooking supplies, compass, and water.
