This reminds me of the old typing programs on Macs in the early 90's.... I just played Oregon Trail. Mario taught me back then.
I'm kind of in the "just do it" line of thinking. I do not position my fingers correctly, but can easily type over 80 wpm according to that test. I'm to the point where I don't think I could learn to do it correctly anymore since I've been doing this way for as long as I can remember.
Seriously, I think writing some of the papers in college and wherever else helped me the most.

Edited by Tom T: 2/13/2013 8:11:43 AMI write anything important by hand, then type up afterwards. I feel I write much better that way, as it flows without temptation to over edit. Things also actually come to me, rather than just finding myself blankly looking at the screen. Last time I did a writing test, I managed 59wpm by hand - which is almost as fast as my typing :-/

See if I wrote down everything that was important during something like note taking... well, let's just say that doctors would remark at how horrid my hand writing is. But then again, I write with the wrong hand. I always type up large reports with a feeling like I'm under a time constraint. That could be why I gradually got faster without any training. Maybe while you are typing up what you wrote down try to give yourself some arbitrary time constraint and see if you can beat it, and just gradually keep reducing the time if you see yourself getting faster. Might work...

Oh yeah, I didn't say it was legible. I figure the first step is breaking away from just using two fingers. I am already able to not look at the screen, but I've been too lazy for too long and haven't moved beyond that. Once I crack multiple fingers I can try increasing the pressure.
