game keeps crashing saying add-on corrupted…any advice
-
Hello there, Thank you for reaching out. “Add-on corrupted” almost always means one of Destiny 2’s installed DLC packs/files is damaged on disk. The fix is to force the platform to redownload those add-ons, not just restart the game. Below are the quickest paths by platform; follow the one that matches how you play. PlayStation 5 / PS4 Close Destiny 2 and fully restart the console. Check for updates Settings → System → System Software Update Highlight Destiny 2 → Options → Check for Update. Delete and reinstall the add-ons Settings → Storage → Games and Apps → Destiny 2. Go into Add-ons and uninstall the expansions/pack listed as installed (Lightfall/Witch Queen/etc.). Then go to Library → Destiny 2 → PlayStation Store page → Add-ons and re-download your expansions. If it still crashes: Back up saves to cloud (PS Plus), then delete Destiny 2 and reinstall the base game + add-ons. Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Power cycle Hold the Xbox power button ~10 seconds → unplug for 30 seconds → plug back in. Manage add-ons My Games & Apps → Destiny 2 → Manage game and add-ons. Under Installed, uncheck the expansions/add-ons (do not delete saves). Let them uninstall, then re-check them to download fresh. If the error persists, uninstall Destiny 2 (leave save data), reinstall base game, then add-ons. PC (Steam / Epic) Verify files Steam: Library → Destiny 2 → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity. Epic: Library → Destiny 2 → … → Manage → Verify. If Destiny 2 is on an external drive, try moving it to an internal SSD and re-verifying. If you still crash: fully uninstall Destiny 2, then reinstall on a stable drive. If you’ve redownloaded the add-ons and Destiny 2 still crashes with the same message, that can indicate a failing drive or deeper system issue; at that point it’s worth checking other games on the same disk and, if they also misbehave, running a drive check or moving Destiny 2 to a different drive.
